FYI - For all you folks wondering about game access I've got an update (I went right to the top!).

You can currently buy access for the first game only.  They are working on a season pass this week and will keep us updated.  So expect that groovy feature.  But maybe not before the weekend?

I just spent the last 15 minutes resetting my password and trying to figure out where to find the season pass on the Stretch site. I should have known better than to go anywhere but here first! ;D I hope everyone is doing well!! I am looking forward to some Johnnie Football!! It is good to have Saturday plans again!!

SJU Thursday Feature on Syverson.

I went back and watched Syverson's Hudl highlights from Minnetonka and liked what I saw. I'm eager to see what he can do at SJU.

It will have been 630 days since we last saw the Johnnies play.

I'm fired up! Let's Go!

SJU Thursday Feature on Syverson.

Props to Chris Backes for his support of Syverson and the team. I'm sure it's not an easy pill to swallow...must be a heck of young man!
Also...how many guys playing for the Johnnies haven't seen live game action in almost 3 years....that's got me a little concerned. Hoping they rise to the challenge!!!

Especially since he came back for a COVID 5th year.  He appears to be a very fine young man with a great future.

I would be amazed is it's not a max capacity full house.  Who knows though.

Labor Day weekend is always such a wildcard. They've had between 6,000 - 8,800 in the Fasching era on that weekend.

I'm fired up! Let's Go!

VOJ interviews Gary in the first edition of Football Weekly.  Getting hyped.  Can't wait for Sunday morning.

https://portal.stretchinternet.com/csbsju/portal.htm?eventId=651064&streamType=audio

Some updates from Gary:

- Claims it's the fastest Johnnie team ever.  More players under a 5.0 40 than ever before.  Credits the strength and conditioning program.
- Say's the players are "ready to play". It's been too long since they've done real football.
- Jackson is irreplaceable but Syverson has stepped up and looks great.  Is ready to go.
- We don't have the complete playbook working yet but the team is very advanced.  80%-85% of the playbook is red hot and ready.

- He thinks the O-line is pretty good.  Wants to run the ball a little better but is happy with the passing game.  We'll see how it looks when people start hitting back.
- WR is very deep.  Won't say it's the best we've ever had (VOJ asked) but it's very good.
- TE is a hard matchup.  Looking for good things there.
- Trost has put on 30 lbs and will be banging up the middle more but still has blistering speed.

- Zimblemann (or however his name is spelled) is very good.  Will concentrate on containment.
- Aurora only has a couple returning on defense as well.  (Implication being this could be a shootout with experienced offenses vs green defenses)
- LB's are fast, faster than 2019, but they are green.  Have a lot of seasoning to do very fast.
- Same with the D-line.  Very fast.  Inexperienced.
- S are all new and inexperienced.  Will be a challenge.  SCSU transfer has one spot locked up.  The other is still up for grabs. (CB not mentioned)
- Figures defensive depth is 6-7 players without losing production.

- Have a freshman kicker.  Looks good.  (Yeah... ok)
- A new punter.  Devil's spawn.  Left foot kicker.

- Really excited to have fans back in the stands.  Nerve wracking first game.  But excited to play.  And ready to go.

Labor Day is tough.  I generally skip the game because it's our last last cabin weekend of the summer.  I plan on going to the game this weekend, though.  Not sure if any of my family will be with me, though.

Ha ha ha!

Frosh Kicker (Conor Pavelko) is from Sioux Falls (O'Gorman), and I've seen him play. Solid on FGs and has the ability to consistently drive the ball to the goal line on kickoffs. Several times he put it through the back of the end zone.

He had a D1 offer to play at South Dakota State, and is very committed to his craft.

Not to be picky (ok, maybe it is  ;D) but it will only be 2 years this December since they last played in a live game.
