It's nothing official, but it sounds like Syverson's injury is season ending. I mean, I assumed as much when he was taken off on a golf cart.

Gary mentioned in the post game that the trainers thought it was a fracture. Do you have a source for your info? Just wondering.

This took 6 off the board for SJU. I think they called on the receiver on the top. How the hell do you call that?

You put the whistle in your mouth and reach down into your pocket...
well the same ref gave Ravi the touchdown here...not sure that would have held up on replay!!!

Looks like he wasn't going to the ground until he was tackled in the end zone after already crossing the plane.  So I'm going to go ahead and confirm the call.  I also don't think the OPI was too bad, that was a little more than incidental contact.
The defender initiated the contact more than five yards downfield...there is literally nothing to call other than illegal contact on the defense.

I'm correcting my late night post....the defender is allowed to initiate contact as there is no five yard window in college...this defender had two hands on the receiver...a guy can't make a move or give a little shove to get hands off him. Incidental contact at best.

Also could someone share an opinion on the 10 second run off rule? I'm going to look it up but something really odd occurred at the ends the first half of the SJU / Gus Davis game. A Johnnie defender had an injury with about 20+seconds remaining. Gusties had the ball deep in their territory. Because of the injury the refs enforced the 10 second run off. It made zero sense to me. Imagine if it were the fourth quarter and Gustavus were trailing by 3. Why wouldn't the defense just fake a couple injuries and run the clock out?

"b. Feigning an injury for any reason is unethical. An injured player must be given full protection under the rules, but feigning an injury is dishonest, unsportsmanlike and contrary to the spirit of the rules. For questionable game action, an institution or conference has the option to consult the national coordinator of football officials who would then facilitate a video review. After the review, the national coordinator will communicate any findings to the director of athletics at the institution for further action. Attention is directed to the statement in The Football Code (Coaching Ethics, Section g)."

Looks like a letter sent to the coach, potentially the President & AD, and threat of probation is what keeps you from doing that. Seems difficult to enforce and probably requires multiple instances for the severe punishments.

Feigning an injury is almost impossible to detect, so pretty much impossible to enforce. And even if it is enforced, it would be after the fact and wouldn't have an impact on the current game. I would like to see the 10 second runoff only be applied if stopping the clock because of the injury benefits the team of the player who is injured.

Trying to watch the replay of Concordia / Carleton. The video keeps glitching and looks like a Leroy Neiman painting. Crazy drive that the Knights tied it up on. Knights tried a hook and ladder that they fumbled and recovered. 35 yard Hail Mary with .6 secs left. The Knights were going to go for two but had a delay of game and then kicked the tying xtra point.

Carleton students actually stormed the field...something I never thought I would see. Good for them!

I agree, it's very annoying. I'd like to see an upgrade of the streaming equipment.

The top 25 is out and it's mostly a bit of shuffling.  No big upsets on the weekend, but a few were close.

https://d3football.com/top25/2021/week8

SJU remains in 5th.
BU moves up a spot to 14th.
GAC picks up 21 votes and are 18 points from making the list (from no votes the week before) after the hard fought loss to the Johnnies.

SJU has a notebook thick enough to choke a horse on this subject. We will trust the system.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Saturday was a perfect day for football in Minnesota. Just gorgeous. Here's to hoping we get a few more.

And for flying rockets...

I think I've intimated in the past that I enjoy that hobby. I was streaming the BU/Macalester game on my phone while I was out flying.

Agree. And I wasn't even in the state for gameday, but seeing the footage from the various games and seeing the fall colors on my drive back to Sioux Falls from Indianapolis yesterday was awesome. The bluffs region in Southeastern Minnesota along the Mississippi is breathtaking this time of year.

Honestly art, every time I see something that references the movie October Sky, I think of you. No joke.

OK, the divisional thing is new to all of us, but would the following statement be correct?

SJU can clinch the Northwoods Division title with a win against St. Scholastica and if Gustavus defeats Carleton this Saturday.

Saw a shot from empty Clemens over the weekend and it looked near peak. I had great plans of making multiple games this year but all went awry. Saw two games while driving across the country (so far streamed in MD., W. Va., Pa. and Ohio), several from couches in Md., and Saturday's from the cabin, where I had to make a quick trip back to winterize because we had to leave our regularly scheduled trip for the early arrival of a grandson. (Also delayed the purchase of that SJU onesie.)
