@WDavis

Sorry to hear that, WDavis. As a dad whose kid played close to home, it was tough enough to see him hurt when he'd be over for dinner. Dealing with it from a distance has to be rough. Best of luck to him.

I wonder how many of the teams in the d3football.com Top 25 poll are left out of the 32-team playoff each year? I look forward to seeing the poll each week, but it's disappointing that it has no bearing on who makes the playoff field. For instance, assuming St John's defeats Bethel in the conference championship game, Bethel's only losses would be to St John's. I have to believe they'd beat at least half of the teams that will make the playoff, but will likely be snubbed.

Yeah, if it's true that the MIAC Championship game is to be short lived, it would really be annoying to have it cost Bethel a playoff spot. I think we are still a little green on the Oline to beat SJU this year. And being down a few Dlineman won't help either. Hoping I'm proved wrong.

Kind of how I feel also, unfortunately.  Sort of seems like BU's better chance was to catch SJU in the game early in the year.

Hopefully a home game for the championship helps a bit!

I'm also curious to see for the MIAC in general how many players take advantage of the extra year granted from COVID?  For the team's sake, I would love to see Roste back next year, but how many of the guys like him will choose to move on with their lives either because they have job or grad school opportunities, and / or don't want to incur another semester of tuition?

I wonder about who will return for an extra year too. On SJU's weekly radio show they typically interview a player. Several key players (Alston, Trost, etc ) have said they aren't sure if they'll come back for an extra season. It depends on what other opportunities come their way. Whether star players stay or go could be the difference between rolling to 10-0 or fighting for Pool C consideration for some teams.

One more thought on this: I feel like teams might end up with most players staying or most foregoing the extra year. If I were in their shoes and all my friends on the team were staying, I'd be more likely to stay too. If my teammates were mostly leaving, I'd be more likely to leave.

@Wdavis5;

Did your son get hurt as you suspected?  If so, hopefully not too bad and he's available for this weekend against MAC.

On another note, I noticed that the CSS QB is from Sublimity, Oregon.  I've never heard of the place but it sounds beautiful.

Yes Sir, Torn UCL done for season.

Sorry to hear that. But it sounds like he got a lot of playing time as a Frosh, so hopefully he can get healthy and bank that experience for next year.

Would put the odds of Caruso replacing Fleck somewhere between those of Knute Rockne and Bernie Bierman.

Glenn and Peej are both cut from the same Ego-clothe, I will give them that.

If you talk to any of the really talented players and they are looking to head to grad school and still be able to play, I know a place they could look into without having to move too far.

Something not touched on yet--and I'm surprised that it didn't come up on the in-game updates chat--is that the Johnnies were wearing the Sagatagan Blue™ uniforms against Scholastica. A few thoughts:

1) Damn those jerseys look good. I thought I would hate them, but they seem to work.
2) I'm still a rad trad at heart. They need to limit the use of the Sagatagan Blues™ to just once per season. Again, not because I hate them, but because I love them and want them to be special jerseys. I just think you can't wear "special" jerseys 2+ times per season and not diminish the novelty.

Damn, that's  shame.  I had to look it up to be sure as that's in the elbow and normally a throwing injury.  Odd injury in a football game, I would think.  Anyways, I'm sorry to hear that and wish him a good recovery.

I don't like them.  Too soft.  If we line up against UWW in that gear then we'll be slaughtered.

There is a reason they've only been used against Martin Luther and Scholastica. If those jerseys came out during a playoff game and they lost, the ghost of John Gagliardi would put the jerseys in a box and burn it at midfield at Clemens Stadium.

Thank all of you all for the best wishes.  He was trying to get of the block of #3 and went down awkwardly. #3 got a taunting call on it as well.  He will see a specialist tomorrow and we will see for sure. The trainers yesterday was saying UCL so we will get the official word tomorrow. Ill be up there thursday but will only get to watch one son play now.
