There were some nice spotlights on a couple of the Dline.

Can't speak to where this front four ranks, but we've been able to get a considerable amount of pressure bringing 4-5 guys. Could probably make the argument they are the difference maker for our pass defense. Don't give a lot of time to throw, get some hits / sacks, and get their hands up to make it harder on the QB (especially some of the smaller ones). Seen a few batted balls and a lot of wayward tosses you could probably attribute to that pressure.

Unless I missed it I didn't see any stadium plans.

I was a bit too tired and snoozed at times and missed some of the game but Carleton played well.  I expected them to tire and get rolled but they played hard to the end and gave the Johnnies as much spirit as anyone.  They were definitely not intimidated.  It's good to see them having a good year.

Next weekend is going to be a great game.  BU will be playing for everything on their home turf.  The Jays will need to play clean ball.  Stop the penalties and mental mistakes.  I also reckon they will need to take a few chances against the Royals and I expect the Royals to be taking a lot of chances and seeing some pay off.

This week will have a great build up.

Was nice to see that W&L's greatest coach of modern times, Scott Abell, and his Davidson Wildcats rolled over St. Thomas today. Something I'm 99.99999% sure never would have happened without Coach Abell moving on and St. Thomas moving to the PFL...

Wonder if Coach Abell will get a shot at a bigger opening after taking Davidson from perennial cellar dweller to their first PFL title in his 3rd season and currently on track to repeat the title and playoff berth this year.

Yeah... I know. Off topic. So I'll apologize by saying good luck in the rematch for St. Johns and Bethel. Seems like a raw deal to me to have to do it.

I think the Oles just have students sit there and collect beer money for themselves.  However much they think they can get from you.  None of it goes to the school.  :o

I'm happy to support SJU, but if I recall, my season tix were nearly $500, and if I can't make it to a game and want to watch, I have to pay to stream it.  Add in concessions...
And they don't even have cheese for their burgers!  ;D

It wasn't students collecting money at St Olaf. She was older than me and I'm pretty damn old. 😂

Wowzers.  392 yards rushing against the Toms.  There will be some sore bodies tomorrow.

Lol, I've never actually watched SJU's.  Plenty to do around the house this weekend (and I haven't even been pheasant hunting yet... GASP!), but I'd like to watch a bit of the game (before it gets outta hand  :o).
In that case, I'd recommend tuning in at kickoff and you should be able to move on to chores (or hunting) by 1:45

I think a few good goals would be 1. force the Johnnies to play their starters into the 4th quarter (does that mean it needs to be within 28?), 2. score an offensive touchdown, 3. finish within 35, 4. Hold SJU to 42 points. If Carleton manages to achieve 3 out of those 4, I'd turn off the stream feeling pretty satisfied.

I'll take it. I didn't pay enough attention to the SJU players to see who was coming in and out so maybe someone can confirm #1, but at least 3 out of the 4 and out rushing the Johnnies has me feeling optimistic for the future. Double checking the schedule, this was the third smallest margin of victory for SJU this season. That potential TD at the end would've been gravy, but obviously had no impact on the outcome of the game.

It's Championship Week in the MIAC, for better or worse.

The first game has St. Scholastica traveling back to Hamline for a rematch from the fifth week of the season, where the Pipers won 34 to 18. I suspect similar results in week eleven.

The second game has Carleton at Macalester, which also just so happens to be a rematch from week five where the Knights took the Book of Knowledge back to their campus, beating the Scots by a score of 24 to 10. Rinse and repeat. This will put the Knights solidly into fourth place in the MIAC for a very respectable season.

Guess what, the third game in week eleven is also a rematch from week five between St. Olaf at Augsburg, where the Auggies won 56 to 28. Anybody else thinking this is getting a little too predictable? The Auggies should be able to double their score on the Oles again.

The fourth game is another rematch from earlier in the year between Concordia and Gustavus, but from week four in St. Peter, MN, where the Gusties won with a score of 36 to 21. This week, the Gusties travel up to Moorhead, MN, to take on the Cobbers. Gustavus has third spot in the MIAC locked up, win or lose – but if Concordia can win at home and split the series, they could finish the season at .500, which would be a boost for morale.

The final game is also a rematch from week four between St. John's and Bethel. This is also a flip for home field advantage as the Johnnies travel down to Royal Stadium in Arden Hills, MN. The Johnnies won the first contest with a score of 31 to 25. BU needs to take advantage of the home field advantage and try to figure out a way to win against the monster D that the Johnnies will be bringing. If the Johnnies prevail, then BU's post-season aspirations are very tenuous with a record of 8 and 2. If the Royals find a way to win, then they win the automatic qualifier and the Johnnies are a very strong Pool C contender, with both teams sporting 9 and 1 records. If both teams do make the playoff field, they shouldn't see one another until quarter or semi-finals. But you never know how the NCAA will set up the playoff brackets.

For the first three games, it looks chalk. The other two games will be interesting to watch, and either one of them could be the game of the week – or both could go chalk and "playoff week" will be an utter failure.

Has Bethel installed visitor side bleachers?  Johnnie nation will be out in force and us old guys would like to be able to sit, and on the Johnnie sideline.

Some small temporary ones. Supply chain issues delayed a lot of construction this summer. They can't bring in extra stands on the asphalt base for the track or they void the warranty.

Leave it to Bethel to try to stick it to us Johnnies.  ::)

Then move the game to Collegeville where there's plenty of seats for everyone. What a joke!

Carleton is much improved. Their coach deserves conference coach of the year.

Did the Johnnies throw a behind the back 2 point conversion today? Asking for a friend in the neighborhood m. 😂

The MIAC championship for the Pool A bid? Even if Bethel wins would they get it, considering they already lost to SJU earlier in the year?
