The stats are incredibly similar for the two teams. Biggest discrepancy appears to be SJU's Red Zone D. Otherwise these teams are very similar.

Game notes for round 2: https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/gojohnnies.com/documents/2021/11/10/111321_Bethel_GameNotes.pdf

Wow! Looking at the game starters, Bethel is young! Only 2 Seniors that start on offense, none on defense compared to 14 for St. Johns (8 on offense and 6 on defense) The next few years, Bethel will be scary!  Predicting that the experience of St. Johns will win out in the end on Saturday.

Yeah, if Roste come's back it would be huge for Bethel next year.

Shameless BU plugs following - The first one from WCCO's Mike Max's show posted here yesterday: https://www.audacy.com/podcasts/sports-to-the-max-with-mike-max-161/bethel-football-head-coach-steve-johnson-on-the-matchup-vs-st-johns-the-new-miac-format-and-choosing-joy-927613897

And the second is from BU's We Are BU! podcast from last week found here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/bu-football-with-paul-swan-running-backs-coach-jaran/id1587927547?i=1000541330128

Thanks, I'll give that first one a go on the morning dog walk.  We'll see what's in store from Bethel this week.  Brass knuckles?  Tonya Harding specials?  A Tyson-grade overbite?  It could be anything.

I can hear the wailing of traditionalists thinking about an off-campus game(s) along with the MIAC money man attempting to calculate how many fans would be needed to break even on the event cost.

I've got the spreadsheets at the ready. Just tell me when and where.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Heh. That conversation between Maxie and Steve Johnson was the most Minnesota thing I've heard in a loooong time.

Amos 4:4 is usually the verse that gets quoted to anyone from Northwestern daring to take the trip up Snelling for a visit.

Tomorrow's forecast for Arden Hills looks like clouds with temps in the low/mid 30s.  I was just commenting to the Mrs. last week about how we haven't worn more than a light jacket to a game this year.  I guess that all changes tomorrow!

I thought for you Minnesotans that's like sweatshirt weather, at most.

Texas Ole

This will be the highest attended MIAC football championship game ever!  I would even surmise that is this is the coldest game the MIAC has seen in close to 2 years.

Regardless of what happens I think a lot of those around the MIAC look at this as something fun.  It will be elevated to something more than it deserves.

I do think the conference needs to evaluate whether home stadiums are the best venues.  Royal Stadium is under construction.  Can you imagine playing this game at Edor Nelson or Klas Field?  Those venues are significantly undersized.  If St. Olaf were to host a game of this magnitude I would have concerns about Manitou.  You can make jokes about how those teams have no chance to host, but history tells us that the two current teams in the championship are going to have off years.

Sure, if this were January, it would be, but we have had such mild weather thus far, we're not acclimated to it, yet.
