I lived in Metten Court.

Wait, you lived in Metten in '02/'03?  I did, as well.  I didn't know Josh, but I actually stopped in at that party for a bit.  Still hard to believe that he essentially vanished.

If you walked into the front of Metten Court, the apartment that I was in was in the back on the far right on the lower level. I recognized the picture of Josh, but can't say that we ever met. I undoubtedly recognized him from walking around campus to & from classes. I have always suspected that he was abducted since the road went right by there. I've always wondered how a college age male, in the best shape of their life could be taken & wondered if that could've been me. I pray the truth comes out!

Huh, crazy.  I lived in the left, rear tower as you walked in.

A tradition unrivaled...

Scary stuff. Makes you realize how quickly any of our lives can change. We had a football teammate at Bethel, Tim Morgan (two brothers later played/started for Bethel), who was killed trying to beat a train across the tracks in the summer of 2002. He was an LB with me. I'll never forget going to the funeral and looking at his body, very sobering moment for a young man. The notion of youthful invincibility evaporated quickly.

All I'll say in the sheriff's defense, and it isn't much of a defense, is that the whole of Stearns County averages less than a murder a year and almost all of them are in the city of St Cloud.  The sheriff's office doesn't get many murders and stone cold whodunnits seem to happen about every 20 years.  It seems to me that when a mystery case turns up the sheriff should be calling the state for help immediately.  You need the worst sort of experience to deal with these sort of things, I suspect, and Stearns County almost never has the chance to develop that experience, thankfully.

EDIT:  Not to say this is a murder because we don't know.  Let's say it's a WTF-happened-and-where-is-this-guy type of case.  Few of those in Stearns.

I'm pretty sure what you suggest is how we do it in South Dakota. Anything deemed a "major" crime gets pulled into the Attorney General's Office in Pierre and the Department of Criminal Investigation leads the investigation. The County doesn't really have a choice and they go immediately into a support role.

Kind of an amusing MIAC story:

My wife went to a wake for a friend's dad earlier this week, and she ran into one of her high school friends who has a son who is being recruited by Concordia.  She said that they were invited up for a game, to which my wife responded, "I hope it wasn't the Johnnie game."  It was.

She said that they left at halftime.  ;D

There have been instances of this type that we joke about, but I just read that UWW QB Max Meylor graduated HS in 2015. He will be eligible for Social Security soon.

Ha! And it was homecoming in Moorhead, too!

And???

If I recall correctly, he was thrust into the starting role during the end of the season/playoffs in 2019, so it's not like he's been their starting QB for 4+ years.  Ease up on the bitterness.

Ice Bear says you are right. Old Max should have just hung them up and bowed out gracefully because of his age, as opposed to following his ****ing dream, sticking it out, battling, working his ass off, and playing college football for a program like UWW.

Ice Bear sighs, leans back in his chair, places the back of his hand on his forehead and exclaims, "Oh the travesties of justice these days..." :P

Shortly after 8:00 this morning (CST) ESPN's College GameDay mentioned the Division III playoffs for no more than 30 seconds. Stated that the four semifinalists have accounted for all of the championships "since 2004".

Retagent doesn't pass on many opportunities to rip the Hawks.

There is also another component to Viking fandom that, more often than not, is exacerbated by the ineptitude of all of Minnesota's professional franchises over the last 30 years.

Chicago has had recent success with the Cubs, Blackhawks, and White Sox--not to mention the 1990s Bulls dynasty.

Minnesota has the longest active drought between professional sports championships of any city that has 3 or more professional franchises, and it is over halfway toward achieving Cleveland status.

?? The Cavs won the NBA championship in 2016.
