There is also another component to Viking fandom that, more often than not, is exacerbated by the ineptitude of all of Minnesota's professional franchises over the last 30 years.

Chicago has had recent success with the Cubs, Blackhawks, and White Sox--not to mention the 1990s Bulls dynasty.

Minnesota has the longest active drought between professional sports championships of any city that has 3 or more professional franchises, and it is over halfway toward achieving Cleveland status.

?? The Cavs won the NBA championship in 2016.

Sorry for the lack of clarity:

Cleveland has the record for longest all-time championship drought for a city that has at least 3 major professional franchises (1964 to 2016; 52 years). Minnesota now holds the title for longest active streak at 30 years (1991 to present). So, if a Minnesota franchise does not win a championship by the year 2043, they will have achieved "Cleveland Status."

Speaking of Navy, while monitoring the D3football.com scoreboard all day I watched the Army-Navy game. From pregame through post
game it was very inspiring and entertaining. What a win by Navy!  Great game.

Hard fought game. I'm an Army guy and was disappointed, but it was a good game to watch. Both teams even opened it up a bit in the passing game (meaning they actually had more than one pass instead of running triple option all game). Also, no turnovers for either team!

I don't want her dead. At least not for that offense.  Just scared real good will do.

Lol. I've got a long shower daughter as well. But after about 15 minutes the spousal unit is in there "are you about done?"  ;D

Ice Bear says mother****ing great to know he and Mrs. Ice aren't alone with our oldest who seems to shower for ****ing decades, she saps most of the hot water, also sings at the top of her lungs, while simultaneously sending a silent **** YOU to her younger Ice sister who is usually waiting on deck.

Ice Bear says cubs... ???

How far away do you think St John's is from ending their Stagg Bowl appearance drought? If you were to rank St John's, where would they fall among the top programs in the country? 5th through 10th? Obviously the top 4 have to be UMHB, Mount Union, North Central, & Whitewater since they've accounted for every title since 2004.

I guess it depends on how far back you want to go to use as a measure. Since 1990, UMU has obviously outpaced the field. Prior to that they were mediochre at best. UMHB is a relatively new program. UWW has been a force for about 16 years. North Central is even newer to the party.

I think there's a pretty sizeable gap between the Top 4 and the top 5-15.

I would completely agree! For those with any insight, what are the top 4 programs doing that the 5 through 15 programs aren't? Is it recruiting? Player development? Location?

Ice Bear says from an outsider's perspective he most always considers the Johnnies a top 5-10 team. Looking at playoff appearances since the 90's: 1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and the fact that they play in a very competitive conference and region, Ice always sees the Johnnies being a team that is in that top tier or as damn near ****ing close as possible. Ice says even this year the Johnnies seemed to have some key ****ing injuries that maybe could have pushed them through the threshold (like birth?)?

Ice says, like he has been saying, he really hopes to keep close tabs on the MIAC moving forward. Y'all play some serious mother****ing ball out there. Ice will be watching a plethora of games next season.

Your 56 year losing streak was bound to be broken sometime.

... and your 58 year streak is just starting.

How do you know SJU and Linfield aren't going to play for another 58 years?!  ;D

If St John's had been healthy, I'd like to think the outcome would've been different!
