@AO, I re-read our exchange from a few days back. That came off way saltier than I intended, so apologies for the tone on the non-con discussion. We see the situation differently, but again, I could have been more gracious in how I communicated my point.

I look at the WIAC schools as having a number of advantages in the athletic area. I believe they all have good programs in at least one sport. UWW, IMO, has the added advantage of being close to the Chicago area, which is a fertile recruiting ground. Their rise to prominence had a lot to do with an excellent coaching staff, and athletic facilities. Add that to the fact that there are no DII schools in Wiscy to compete against, and the lower costs associated with a state school vs private. They also, I assume, because of the ability to recruit more athletes as a result of the large student body and lower admission standards, have those things in their favor. Now, that UWW has the reputation they have built, they are even more attractive since they consistently have a shot at the National Championship.

I've known this for years. WIAC schools may as well be DII..... for the same reason you kicked St. Thomas out of your conference. Also WIAC schools are state funded/subsidized = low tuition, in a state with no DII options and their enrollments are from approx. 5-15 thousand students. Competing against mostly private schools with enrollments of around 800-2500 or so. We used to call that Sandbaggers back in my day!

No offense taken, I at least have hope that we'll get Bethel on the schedule more often in hoops.  The best team on either campus might be volleyball and those matchups have been fun in recent years.

+K Muc57 - and back at you!

Should he apologize for his apology?

To all my fellow recovering Vikings fans, happy 46th anniversary of the Drew Pearson push off in the 1975 NFC Divisional Playoff. Stay strong--you can overcome this debilitating addiction also.

Ice just wants to wish all the mother****ers here on the MIAC board a Merry Christmas/Happy ****ing Holidays/Happy New Year. Ice is looking forward to watching more MIAC football next season. His ass will be rooting hard for Bethal and any MIAC team that reaches the post-season (that is unless they face a team from his beloved LL).

Happy ****ing New Year

I don't remember whether it was twice in one year a 3-4 years ago, or once a year a couple years in a row, but they had a couple of good games and I had hoped it would become a regular thing, but no luck.  The basketball teams are much more on the same level than football, so I don't know why it can't be an annual event.
