I also think it will have a perverse pressure on the power conferences. It will be increasingly difficult to justify the huge football investments needed to get an AQ in a leading conference only to almost always end up in second place and missing the postseason when significantly less money gets you competitive in an easier conference.  And if it is the fact (ie, I'm not wrong) that sports-specific conferences can be formed to maximise AQ chances then it will become increasingly difficult for top teams to not only find non-conference competition but to find teams willing to conference and either get slaughtered or doomed to perpetual bridesmaids when they need not be.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see how this change impacts the next 20 years like the last 20.

It was brought up on the podcast that it would be beneficial to move away from the blanket "6 teams for an AQ" across all sports and move to system in which AQs are determined on a sport-specific basis (e.g. women's golf may be best with 6 needed for an AQ, but football may be best with 8 needed for an AQ).

From my outside view, this is what should be done.  Now, getting it done is a whole nother matter.

Yep - pretty much sums up what I thought when I listened to the Podcast as well.

First thing that came to mind was diarrhea.

I can't believe you guys are looking down your noses at this. If I was at a Super Bowl party with one of these I would find the biggest bowl around and a lot of crackers. Another fine product from my hometown.

And to say Hormel properly, like people from Austin do, it's not hor-MEL. It's hor-mull. They got a new ad agency in the '80's that started saying it different.

I actually like Hormel chili cheese dip. I think it was the quantity that got to me.
It makes a good variation of poutine or loco moco.

Apparently, there has been snow in the upper eastern US.  A team chatroom at work has about 30 people from all over the world in it.  Did you know that Boston almost got 12" OF SNOOOOOW!!  There hasn't been that much snow anywhere in the world since the first Ice Age.  And it was -20 degrees!  Good golly.  Those poor people.

You don't say!? This is the first I've heard of it as well! If something like this happens more often, it could become a phenomenon unique to this northeastern region of the United States. And, if it becomes a recurring phenomenon, they should make a term for it so we can have some kind of shorthand to refer to it.

How about Nor'easter?
