The Athletic had a story where it anonymously surveyed Pro Bowl players. One of the questions: Who's the most underrated player?

Players couldn't name a teammate.

Hunter Renfrow led the way with three votes. No one got two votes.

SJU's own Ben Bartch surprisingly received a vote.

Attaboy, Ben. Let's hope the head coaching change in Jacksonville is a good thing and they can turn things around.

Would be cool if that vote came from Ali Marpet.

Any news?

DIdn't expect much as Gary keeps things close to vest, but sounds like a TE/DE from NDSU (already in school) among the several transfers.

It was a good thing Gary was on the broadcast. Not much drama on the court last night.

Johnnies win 65-35. I think that's the lowest point total for an opponent I've ever seen in a Johnnie game.

Some of the highlights from Gary's appearance on WBHR during last night's SJU-Hamline basketball beatdown:

Mark pestered Gary about the tenth opponent. The UW-Whitewater game has been moved to week one to try and open some other opportunities to secure another non-conference game. Gary said he has "tried giving everything but the kitchen sink" to get a tenth game.

Gary said recruiting is going well. They have over 40 "blue chip" guys targeted that have visited campus and and around a dozen commits from that group. Signing day was last week, but lots of guys don't make the decision until March and April. Gained a couple of surprises but gave no details on those guys. Also have had couple of inbound transfers--one from NDSU, Trey Steinbach. https://gobison.com/sports/football/roster/trey-steinbach/9303

Saw this on footballscoop.com yesterday, seems like a perfect fit for a Johnnie non-con game:

QuoteBendictine (D-III - IL): Benedictine is looking for a week 2 (9.10.22) game this Fall. Please email jschroeder@ben.edu if interested.

On a personal note, moving that UWW game to Labor Day really messes up seeing my alma mater, Illinois State, play Wisconsin in Madison on that day. Conflicts abound!

I think that was the week that Benedictine and St Thomas were tentatively scheduled to play until *waves hands around*

Keep in mind that just because Benedictine may have an open date doesn't necessarily mean that they would want to schedule SJU (or vice versa).

Also not thrilled that the UWW game got moved to Labor Day weekend.  That's my last cabin hurrah of the summer.

A tradition unrivaled...

I'm sure Gary has contacted Benedictine (along with probably a dozen other schools).

The video crew getting some recognition: https://www.csbsju.edu/news/sju-football-video-crew-working-with-nfl. Lots of work but I imagine a sweet experience for the students involved.

It was brought up here, so just noting that we do indeed have a conference forming to snag a football automatic bid.
