For those of you who may be interested, the MIAC basketball season is in the final stretch. The Johnnies wrapped up the regular season conference championship and the #1 seed in the MIAC Tournament with a thrilling 68-65 victory at Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon.

Also, on the hockey front, Augsburg sealed up its 11th hockey MIAC championship. Still a little bit to play for in the middle of the conference. The Johnnies could rise as high as second on the final weekend, but it will take a sweep of conference champion Augsburg along with a huge helping hand from Hamline who would need to sweep Concordia. Sweeping Augsburg is a tall enough task as it is. Doing that and getting the help they need from Hamline is highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened I guess.

When you have Eli Apple one on one with Cooper Kupp you're not setting yourself up for success.

Eli Apple.  What a great name.  His parents did a good job picking that one.  It would be so easy to turn Apple into a pedestrian name (Tom Apple) or have it clash.  But Eli has a ring when combined with Apple.

That reminds me of a receiver who played at Ohio State in 1990 and other years. His name was Bobby Olive and in the Buckeye game vs. Iowa that year, he scored the last 2 TDs to knock the Hawkeyes out of  national championship contention.

Augsburg is having a bumper year in sports?

I think this has been building for some time now. Basketball and hockey have made substantial improvements to consistently hang in the top tier of the MIAC.

I think the Linfield and Johnnie JV teams should have a game every year. Maybe pre or post season.

That was the Johnnie JV team that Linfield played last year.  Wasn't that Linfield's JV team?  :o

St. Thomas student hit half court shot and what did the school give him? A hat.

One singular hat.

Worst prize ever.

He didn't just hit a half court shot. He hit it blindfolded.

I saw someone post on Twitter that they got the same prize at a prior game for making a free throw.

Seriously considering attending the game on Friday night. I have been to many hockey games at The Ed and this SJU game could be a great atmosphere with the rowdy student section in full force. This 2022 team is the best Augsburg team I have seen in years and SJU always has a quality roster so it will have a rivalry atmosphere.

I agree. That's what the Johnnies and the MIAC need. Great atmosphere, fired up student section, great competition.

No sense in being nostalgic over memories of Johnnie-Tommie (speaking to myself). We've got some great competition right in front of us. Let's embrace it.

I would be a regular hockey and baseball attendee.  The smell of ice and a quiet, warm afternoon watching a ball game are my two most homesick inducing thoughts.
