The Augsburg hockey team is going to the Frozen Four in Lake Placid after a 4-1 win over St. Norbert last night. Representing the MIAC as a serious contender the Auggies play #1, Adrian, on March 25th.

Great season for the Auggie puck team. Adrian was hell bent the best D#3 team this year and deserved to be the champs. Auggie wasn't going to beat that squad while giving up 2 to 1 shots on goal.

We still have a couple D#1 teams in play. Minnesota is in the regional final today (vs Western Michigan 3pm ESPN2) and Minnesota State is already in the Frozen Four. Unfortunately SCSU and UMD were bumped off.
I have to agree BDB, Auggie hockey has to be happy with a Frozen Four appearance as they build the program. Adrian was impressive all year, they deserved to win it. Now on to D1 and the remaining MN teams.

Hockey fans

Still having a little trouble with this "hockey thing".
If it's that cold, wouldn't it be "Frozen Five"? Why not all the toes instead of just four?
Maybe you don't count the BIG toe. Kinda like the foot's counterpart to the thumb. Many people don't think of the thumb as a finger.
That could be..........! Oh, never mind.
How about those Yankees?  (I love talking sports with you guys)  :P
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Speaking of hockey--have we all seen the end of the CCHA Championship Game between Minnesota State-Mankato and Bemidji State?

https://youtu.be/hsmLpsC0Rrk

How the on-ice officials and the conference let the trophies, awards, and championship hats get handed out, and the players left the ice before reviewing and overturning the game winning goal is beyond me.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I had not heard about this. Total insanity! Most of the crowd had left, trophy paraded around, pictures taken. And NO GOAL! Lol.

Fortunately for the Mavericks the same team ended up winning on a really sweet play. Thanks SagatagSam.

There's a conspiracy theory going around that the CCHA higher ups were trying to get BSU an automatic bid as Mankato was going to get into the tournament on an at-large bid anyway.

I jokingly told my Johnnie buddies that I would gladly amplify that rumor as a way to somehow blame the corruption on the CCHA's newest member: UST

Interesting -- I'm not sure which gap is wider, Kenyon to St. John's or St. John's to University of North Dakota.

Pat, careful.  You just confused UND and NDSU.   :o

So, Kenyon is poor at football, huh?

No, I know the difference, but UND is still a fully funded FCS program with all the scholarships that brings, right?

My point was that the article states that Steinbach transferred from NDSU, not UND.  I guess I assumed that since you referred to the prior school of one transfer, your comparison involved the school of the other transfer, as well, and not just a random FCS school that happens to have a similar name.

Correct.  He was on the Bison, not the Fighting Hawks.

My vote would be Kenyon to St. John's.  Kenyon is a very good school with awful football for as far back as you can look.

Oh, my bad. On my screen North Dakota has a line break before State in the article and I guess I didn't keep reading. :)

ESPN pregame coverage of the Women's Final 4 has been predictably cheesy about Minneapolis. Views of First Avenue, Stone Arch bridge, and the Electric Fetus with the mascots of Stanford and Louisville fighting over apparently the last available album of Purple Rain.

So far, a shot of the giant spoon and cherry at the Guthrie has not been shown but the weekend just started. I have never appreciated the art in that damn thing, but what do I know.

Also easy to predict, were local news shows leading into the pregame excitedly proclaiming "Fans coming to town from everywhere else don't know this is warm and shorts weather for us here!"  Good grief.

I remember this weather bimbo in 1991 on the Super Bowl weekend giving the current temp saying " It never gets this warm in Minnesota this time of year!"

She then went on to show the daily high/low temp averages for the day and they were the same as she just gave and predicted for SB Sunday.
