I feared I had cursed Erdmann by remembering to look up his performance last week.  This week his Vikings were trailing 20-8 entering the fourth quarter away at the other undefeated team in Europe, the Barcelona Dragons.  Erdmann went prime time in the 4th and threw for at least 200 yards and had three TD's, including a 90 yard bomb, and the Dragons learned how the Tommies felt.

Have any SJU fans had a look at the new turf on Clemens Field? Yesterday I saw a pic posted on person's Facebook account. Then "logo" at midfield is an SJU football helmet with a 1 on it. I'm not sure  I'm a fan of it.

Have any SJU fans had a look at the new turf on Clemens Field? Yesterday I saw a pic posted on person's Facebook account. Then "logo" at midfield is an SJU football helmet with a 1 on it. I'm not sure  I'm a fan of it.

Here's a photo that Boz Bostrom posted to his Twitter account. I know that change is hard and in the scope of life this is kind of minor. To me the helmet just looks weird.

Had to be a 1-man committee choosing the helmet over the newer SJU without the 1.  At least you can say they just outlined the numbers in red rather than making the whole field red.

A red field would be a deal breaker for me. All fields should be green...in fact there should be no more than 3 acceptable shades of green for a field...i can handle the alternate light and dark turf...and whenever possible keep the soccer lines off the field.

Yeah, the non-standard fields are annoying to me as well.  I don't mind Boise's as a one-off, it was unique, novel, and kind of fun.

Basketball courts can get pretty barf worthy as well. Some of them look like a cheap paint by number attempt at being unique. Mountains, cactus, whatever.

Can barely see the natural wood grain floor which all by itself is a thing of beauty.

Might as well have a giant picture of the dogs playing poker tapestry like you might find being sold out of a van on some street corner.

It might grow on me...it makes me think about what other options there would be other than the block SJU. I guess if they really wanted to piss off some old timers they could have made the logo Johnnie Blue and included CSB in it!

Full disclosure: I wasn't the biggest fan of the Sexton Arena court that existed from the late 2000s until just a year or two ago. I thought the basketball in the corner was a bit juvenile.
