Internally - 2013 saw a new offensive coordinator and Evan Clark ventured north. Going 5-5 was likely the wake up call that made people understand you don't get the W simply by putting on the jersey especially against opponents who are going to give you their best game. I imagine Gary employs a similar be an adult philosophy but he's made his mark by nudging people a bit more about getting on a program / taking lifting and conditioning seriously. JV games to give more guys game reps. Finding gems and quality transfer game changers also helps to sustain success.

Looks like he's also building out the coaching tree with past players and added another this year. Might be odd to see Franz coaching Woz.

Gary also expanded the recruiting responsibilities as the coaching staff expanded.Younger recruiters communicating in the fashion the recruits respond to has brought in some gems from out of state who never heard of SJU until the recruiting process began.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Looks like a pass to stream the home games is $50. Will be doing that & hoping to witness one of the biggest wins for St John's in years! Huge matchup in Division III to kick of the season! Going to go to the Morningside/Northwestern game (NAIA #1 vs #3) Saturday night at 7:00 in Sioux City. Will really feel great if I can mention that St John's beat Whitewater while at the Morningside game since a few years ago Whitewater bested Morningside in back-to-back seasons. Enjoy this board & everyone's insights/views!

Thanks for the heads up, sjujohnnie.  I have purchased and am ready to go.  4am Sunday mornings, here I come.

I'm hoping to attend the pre game festivities this Saturday. I noticed that there was some construction when I was up there for my 50 year reunion earlier this year. Where is the gathering? What time does it kick off? Is there any fee, and to whom does it go if so?

faunch

If you subscribe to ESPN+ the Montana State Bobcats and Ravi Alston will be streaming at 6pm (Mountain Time) Saturday I believe.

It's in the parking lot by all the "11" facilities (aka new athletic fields)--SJU Campus Map

I'm sure people will be tailgating by 8:00.  No fee.

A tradition unrivaled...

Well, I'd love to talk some smack w you Minnesotans, but I know next to nothing about the 2022 Warhawks. New QB (not named yet?), new RB, new receivers mostly w #1 graduated and a defense that lost some studs.

In addition, UWW has a new offensive coordinator. Will his offense look like that of the last 6-7 years?
I can't recall if this is year 1 or year 2 for the defensive coordinator, probably year 2.

No doubt UWW will have new and returning talent. It will be a lot of fun to see how the talent is put to use and how they compete w such a high level team as St. John's.

I've heard those things as well, but I never want to assume anything because UWW is a program that seems to re-load successfully every season.  I can't think of the last time the Johnnies had a season opener that was this big? Here's to a great game!

Go Johnnies!
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Coach Rindahl is in Year 3 as the DC, but his first year was the dreaded Covid year.

My projections of the offensive skill positions depth chart (my projections only):

QB: Senior Evan Lewandowski will get the start.  He was the First Team All-WIAC QB for La Crosse in 2019.
Sophomores Jason Ceniti and Jackson Chryst will back up Lewandowski.
Ceniti has had a great fall camp to follow up on his excellent spring.
Chryst is a very talented sophomore who transferred from Oregon State and is in his second year in the program.

RB: Fifth year senior Preston Strasburg will get the start.
Senior Jaylen Edmonson will get carries as well.
Sophomores Tamir Thomas and Drake Martin, along with Makaio Harn, a junior transfer from Bemidji St are in the mix.
Super deep group. All five guys bring a little something different to the table.

TE: Senior Michael Coates will get the start as a traditional tight end.
Junior Zach Sherman will operate mostly as an H-back and maybe some at fullback.
Freshman transfer from South Dakota Nathan Goehring is an intriguing addition to the mix.

WR:  Seniors Tyler Holte and Sam Delany will lead the way.   Sophomore Steven Hein will play a lot and maybe start depending on formation.
Sophomores Nick Hall, Nick Wind, Shelvin Garrett (All-American track athlete), Josh Mair, and Tommy Coates are fighting for PT after the top
         three.
Freshman Christian Crump can absolutely fly and could earn time later in the season.
There are others in the fight for PT as well.
This WR group is very young but very deep and very fast. It will be fun to watch them develop.

I wasn't trying to present that with arrogance or cockinesss. I just thought without Kickoff this year, people might be interested in a little bit about the Johnny's opponent on Saturday. Sorry if I offended.

I'd love to hear a summary of the Johnnies if anyone has some info.

It's game week.  There's no room for understanding actual intent or meaning now.  We can be reasonable after the final whistle.

(There's also no room for hurt feelings - it's all done in jest)
