I hear he has a younger brother.  I'll check youtube for some of his 7th grade highlights.

@duffman, three dback transfers.  I did not realise.  That's good.  Such a hard position to get great talent for.  Hopefully, we have a few years of depth in that position.

SJU oline:
LT 68  Cameron Murphy, Sr. (6-5, 310)
LG  58  T.J. Duerr, Jr. (6-2, 315)
C  55  Tom Soler, So. (6-2, 290)
RG  54  Grant Peroutka, So. (6-1, 265)
RT  64  Joe Jaeger, Sr. (6-2, 285)

UWW dline:
DL  0 Kyle Gallagher, Sr. (6-3, 262)
DL 91 Matt Burba, So. (5-11, 283)
DL 7 Reed Farrington, So. (6-0, 295)
DL 96 Justin Allen, Jr. (5-11, 227)

UWW oline:
LT 72 Nathan Miller, Jr. (6-1, 313)
LG 53 John Pekar, So. (6-0, 273)
C 70 Nathan Zak, Jr. (6-1, 267)
RG 66 Seth Roberts, Sr. (6-5, 304)
RT 77 Addison DeShambo, So. (6-7, 356)

SJU dline:
DE 8 Metoriah Faoliu, Sr. (6-1, 270)
DT  91 Michael Wozniak, Jr. (6-3, 255)
DT  97 Zach Frank, So. (6-2, 250)
DE  55 Nick Harris, Sr. (6-3, 240)

SJU is still a little smaller than UWW but the gap has closed quite a bit.  The UWW RT has 110lbs on his SJU opponent, though. (DeShambo is a frickin' giant).  I expect the Johnnies will be playing for speed and position.

There are some interesting things about the trenches, though.  The Johnnie dline is outweighed by 15lbs by their UWW counterparts on the UWW dline but are about 2 or 3 inches taller.  Interesting.

The same seems true the other way as well.  The Johnnie oline is outweighed by 30lbs each, maybe, but have an inch or two over their UWW peer.

It sure looks to me like the Johnnie lines are geared toward enabling and stopping the passing game.  It would be very exciting if AirJohnnie reveals itself out of the blocks.  So hard to say, though, with Syverson missing basically the whole season last year.  I suppose the Johnnie linebackers had better be on fire to stop the UWW running.  The UWW running back weighs more than every Johnnie LB.  Gonna be some sore boys there on Sunday morning.

Also, VOJ had better not be related to the UWW QB.  His homer fuse may melt down.

Noah Chase's younger brother Colin is a freshman for UST this year.

Interesting article from the Registrar about Marcus Freeman, turns out he isn't Catholic but wife and kids are. I liked what he said at the end of the piece about fans needing to take their frustrations out on the coaches who are men and paid to handle it, not the kids.

Thanks for sharing. Excellent interview. Seems like a huge contrast to Brian Kelly in some ways. St Thomas plays at Valparaiso in November so I'm hoping to double dip with my older kids and get to the Notre Dame vs Clemson game that night.

I actually know the author/interviewer a bit also (I think he had a brother that went to and maybe played football at Carleton, Henry)

I'd love to hear a summary of the Johnnies if anyone has some info.

I'll take a stab.

Syverson will start at QB.  He transferred from Colorado State last year and was looking good till he shattered his leg vs. Gustavus.  He throws a nice ball and can run, too.  Not real big.  I have no idea who will be #2.  The guy that took over after Syverson's injury graduated, and the 3rd in line from last year transferred to Central.

Trost will start at RB.  He's been around the block--was planning on graduating after last season but decided to give it one more run.  He's talented--muscular with good speed. I'm not really sure who else you will see in the backfield.  Vouk is a good back, but I think I heard that he's injured.  There were some others that got playing time last year and looked good, but I don't know who will rise to the occasion.

Larson will start at TE.  He's a huge target with good hands.  He runs well for a guy that is 6'7".

SJU is deep at WR.  Mohr, Buck, and VanErp all return, and I've heard there are numerous others that will see the field quite a bit.  Buck is a big target, and I look to him to take his game to the next level.  Mohr is a veteran.  VanErp is small but quick and elusive.

The o-line has some good experience and size.

Defensively, the Johnnies are pretty veteran.  Bjork is a stud at LB, as is Wozniak on the line.  The defensive backfield always gives me heart problems early in the season, but all 4 have played regularily, so I hope they're fairly solid there.
