I didn't get complacency either. I think this game chalks up to one really blown assignment on defense (the Kunkle TD run) and not being able to consistently complete those deep routes. Whether that's route running, throwing, or really good secondary play, I'm not super qualified to answer. SJU recovered from that on the 19-play opening drive and I was impressed with the play-calling on that drive and how they ran the ball, but two picks (one deflected) is tough, obviously.

I think the key takeaway, at least from my perspective, is that nothing that happened on Saturday is something that can't be fixed. The Johnnies can work on blown defensive assignments, route running/timing in the passing game, etc.

I haven't heard anyone say anything in the neighborhood of "Bethel seemed to absolutely dominate ________" whether it be line strength, speed, play calling, etc. Those things are kind of things you either have or you don't.

And there is no reason for anyone to say Bethel dominated any phase of the game, just like no one is going to say SJU dominated any phase. These were 2 evenly matched teams, pretty much the same as both games last year.

On a more serious note - tonight might break us on the furnace usage...only a high of 60 today, and low of 36 tonight is going to be tough to overcome between my wife and I.

I got up this morning and the thermostat said 68.  Tonight will be the test as it looks to be the coolest evening in the next week, but I'm still master of my domain.

I bought my wife a heated mattress pad years ago--it's a game changer.

There was a nice recap of the game, as well as an interview with Roste on the podcast that dropped yesterday. This morning Roste is the QB for Team of the week - where there is already a comment about him being the punter of the week with his two inside the one yard line punts. Yep, with him on the field, Bethel is a different team.

Cheating?  If we're allowing gas fireplaces (which I have not turned on yet), then the mattress pad is fair game, as well.

Fair enough. I am newer to the game, so forgive me. If gas fireplaces are in-play, then heated mattress pads are in.

I guess I'm going to have to up my game if I want to be competitive. Anyone got a gas fireplace guy near Sioux Falls they recommend?

I'm out.

Thermostat was down to 66 this morning...I might've pushed harder, but we have the latest and last addition to the family who is only 10 months old at the moment, so reasonable decisions had to be made with a baby around.

We took our youngest camping for the first time at that same age--just so happened to be a cold September and got into the 30's at night.  You can imagine how many layers my wife had her in.  :o

That's nice. Though I wonder if you ever actually use your side? Maybe when the furnace is broken? Or maybe when the wife is out of town and you let the temp in the house drop to 59 degrees? ;)

Ice says up here in Schen-ec-ta-dy, aka Shocktown, aka Place Beyond the Pines, Ice has kept his igloo tight as **** with no heat and/or gas fireplace usage...as of yet. With that said the lowest temp we've had here Ice believes is mid to low 40's and that may have been only once thus far. Ice knows here in the Great Northeast we are usually 10 degrees higher than you tough Minnesota folk.

Ice did some reflection comparing the UWP game to what he saw of the St. Johns game and he comes to the obvious conclusion that The Bethel University Football Royals are clearly a different team with Roste at the helm. The young man is quite special.

Ice believes the Johnnies will most certainly be fine and will most certainly make a showing in the MIAC championship game (Ice asks with his eyes crossed, "There is a MIAC Championship game correct?" That what he believes he has read). The BEar believes that if Roste stays healthy we'll have a wonderful rematch there.

Any further insight or rumors about whether the MIAC Championship weekend will last beyond this year?

I don't enjoy being cold.  My house just tends to maintain temperatures pretty well.  Also, my wife owns about 100 sweatshirts.

Having read this thread I feel like I need to start one on the USASAC and ASC for last one to turn off the AC, or maybe last one to turn it on in the Spring? Our AC is still on, though I suspect with temps barely reaching the mid 70s as opposed to mid 80s this week, window season finally has arrived!
