As the Commissioner of the "MIACPP First/Last Furnace Turn-On" competition, let me say that Duffman is the reigning champion several years running, however I have been very close to throwing the flag on multiple occassions but the rule book was never written to cover everything he does to win.

Add to the list this year is the heated blanket for the wife. Now, wives are a critical piece of this whole contest. We all know that. Duffman stays a step ahead by seeing this problem before it happens. Plus, she has a dozen SJU sweatshirts to boot. Christmas gifts as well probably, stretching a single into a double, and a double into a triple. It's 4D chess.

The rules committee however is still split over what he did last year to win. Taking the family to Florida during the first Alberta Clipper of the year bought him another week of no furnace and basically wiped out any competition that remained.

Genius or dastardly tactics? The rules are still being debated.  8-)

LOL, that was a genius move on my part!

I'm taking the final 2022 voyage in the boat on Friday and will be in the lake sans wetsuit--does that earn me anything?  :o

Cheating?  If we're allowing gas fireplaces (which I have not turned on yet), then the mattress pad is fair game, as well.

Depending on who is winning, the rules re-write themselves to "unless you're lying naked in a snow bank then you lose."

I'm out.

Thermostat was down to 66 this morning...I might've pushed harder, but we have the latest and last addition to the family who is only 10 months old at the moment, so reasonable decisions had to be made with a baby around.

Out. Drove solo straight thru from D.C., leaving about 9 Tuesday morning and getting in at 4:30 a.m. It was 30 degrees and I immediately fired it up.

Just so you guys don't think I'm a sadist, it was in the low 30s at my house at 6:00, and it was a comfortable 68 in my house despite not having the furnace on.

Our house is down to 65, but I'm standing strong.  Looking at the forecast, we might get into the 2nd week of October.

Is it cheating that I'm in Vegas for work all week and it's high 90's? I feel like a house in the low 60's would be bliss when I get back!

House down to 67 last night. It was a battle, but I was able to keep the heat off. The overnight low outdoor temp got down into the mid-30s here in Sioux Falls, but we should be good for a while longer. No frost in the 10-day forecast.

We got frost, but I had my tomatoes and peppers covered.  Looking at the forecast, we should be good for at least a week now.

Full disclosure to Commish BDB, we're having our floors refinished and some additional wood flooring installed next week, so the Duffs will be living out of a hotel for a few days.  Is that cheating?

House was in the 60's this morning...Light frost in St. Paul as well...I think exterior temp read 33...no furnace only because we need to clean out the filters...that will probably happen this evening. Dog curled up with me again which I kind of like. When the furnace gets turned on he'll get to hot and will start sleeping on the floor or his dog bed.

Looking ahead to SJU Homecoming--is Air Cobber football still a thing? Even in the win over Presentation (S.D.) where they put up almost 600 yards of total offense, they didn't even crack 200 yards passing. The Cobbers have yet to break 200 yards passing this season. And, in their first conference game against Gustavus, they only mustered 72 yards rushing.

What kind of offensive threats will the Johnnies have to contain?

In fairness to the Cobbers it looks like they mustered 122 yards rushing and it was GAC at 72. QB led the team in rush yards the last 2 games with about 40% of production combined. Been picked off more than sacked and we've been a mixed bag with scrambling QBs.
