Obviously the angle of the pic, but this looks like a college team playing a middle school team  ;D

This one? Gotta be all angle.

Piper roster has guy at 5-11, 190.

I did enjoy the Charlie Carr clip of the 5-5 guy vs. Larson.

There has never been anyone in the history of the world who was actually 5'11" who didn't list themselves as 6 foot, this guy is definitely 5'9".

Lol, truth.

I sort of understand the spirit of the rule, but you can certainly make the case that for an un-helmeted player to simply stop and stand still in the middle of play is more unsafe.

Yeah, I understand it and wasn't upset with the call, but it seems a bit subjective.  How do you judge if a an o-lineman stops participating in the play?  He'll get hurt if he just lets up.  And your example of an RB.  He's just supposed to stop running?

Probably no more subjective than pass interference - yes, it is subjective and up to the interpretation of the ref.

Doesn't matter what the running back does if his helmet comes off, the play is whistled dead at that point.

Yes, I understand that this is how it is supposed to work, but in reality, the entire play doesn't stop when the helmet is popped, most players continue as if nothing happened for a couple of seconds, so if the un-helmeted player simply stops, they'd be extremely vulnerable.  This is a rule that makes sense on paper, but in execution, arguably has the potential to make the un-helmeted player more unsafe rather than less.

If the refs are on top of things, the whistle should be blown immediately when they see the helmet come off the ball carrier and everyone knows that the play is over if the whistle is blown. Players should know the rules and know not to hit a player if his helmet is off. I disagree that the un-helmeted player is more safe if they let them continue the play - doesn't make sense that they would be more safe to me. I guess I am curious why you think he would be more safe if they let the play continue?

A friend back in the States let me know about the documentary "Hockeyland".  It follows Hermantown and Ely in depth for one (sweet?) season.  Supposed to be quite good.   I haven't watched it yet.  Available on Amazon.

Hey, we can't be that far away from the first regional rankings, right? Maybe 2-3 weeks?

The first RRs were Nov. 3rd last year, so I would assume we'll see them Nov. 2nd.

A tradition unrivaled...

Ice Bear says there is some douche bag who keeps dinging his karma everytime he posts here. ****ing shame as Ice really is enjoying himself watching/learning about some great MIAC football. To Ice, this is by far one of the best boards on PP with some of the best posters going.
A long time fan of DIII Football!

Logan has some good analysis, I always enjoy reading his charts and tables. +K Logan, wherever you are.

Duff, I found this on Twitter and figured it must have come from your house. I must say that your penmanship is remarkable and has a bit of a feminine touch to it.

LOL, though I must admit that I have no problem with having the heat on, I just would rather have a family that can be OK outside a 2-degree temperature window.  We also don't use the A/C until it is actually hot.  None of this mid-May crap.

Few things grind my gears like days where my family tries to use the AC and heat in the same day. (ex. heat in the AM and AC in the PM).

There's a party pooper with a very bitter heart who has dedicated himself ("Or herself.  Why do you keep going on about women, Stan?") to pinging this board for a year or more now.  Ignoring the flies just comes with the territory, unfortunately.  We've had a very good community (rare for the internet) for a long time (possibly unique on the internet) so one persistent little a$$hole isn't too bad, I reckon.

On another note....how the hell is U$T going to squeeze in a 5,000 seat arena in this space?

Since baseball/softball are going to the old Ford plant area, couldn't they put hockey where those fields are now on the south campus?

You're a good egg in my book--even if you are an alter ego/burner account for Bethel Royals head football coach Steve "the Ice Bear" Johnson. +K
