I didn't know you were from the home of Treasure City!

Yes, indeed!

The locals often refer to it as Treasure Sh*tty because it sells mostly cheap trinkets.

Sorry about the incomplete post. Still sorting out how to do this. Bear with me.

I was completely wrong in my predictions for the offense for the Bethel game: establish the run and then throw. Instead we saw a commitment to passing with short passes replacing the run game. I don't think we should expect a change in strategy this weekend.

On a different note, does anyone else find the music between plays annoying? Do we need this to set an atmosphere for the game? It's loud, some of it's obnoxious, and sometimes it seems that it goes too long, almost into the start of the play.

Just asking ....

I'm ok with music but agree that it's too damn loud. Sitting next to a friend at the Carleton game and we couldn't have a conversation between plays and we were at an outdoor stadium w/ about 5,000 people in attendance. Also when an offense breaks the huddle or goes no huddle it should be cut.

I grew up on the north side of Sartell--we went through Royalton all the time.

I agree they need to cut the music sooner.  It seems the Johnnie players like the music though, judging by their reactions (bouncing to the beat, hyping each other up). That Sheck Wes - Mo Bamba is somewhat of an unofficial team anthem. They played it at least 5 times last week, usually either right before or right after a big play.

Wow, it's been 10 years since the Johnnies have played the Eagles, and never have they met in the playoffs.

2004 @ SJU, 48-0 Johnnies
2005 @ NW, 57-7 Johnnies
2010 @ SJU, 56-10 Johnnies
2011 @ SJU, 34-0 Johnnies
2012 @ SJU, 52-7 Johnnies

Is that what that awful song was?  LOL, the team sure did seem to like it.

Along the Sartell - Treasure City - Royalton thread:

1) I used to live on the south edge of Sartell
2) My wife lost her wedding ring years ago and instead of replacing it has a fake diamond ring from Treasure City.
3) My Mother In Law was a long time English teacher at Royalton High School.

There's my trifecta.

I think they're trying to get people excited about the game.  About 90% of Johnnie fans come to the game and sit on their hands for the duration.  They want yelling, cheering, people standing up...

That being said, their execution could use some work.  Some of their music choices are...interesting.  And there seems to be no flow between the play-by-play, stadium announcer, and whoever is in charge of the music, so all three routinely interrupt each other.

Also, the rendition of Queen's "We Are the Champions" that was played at the end of the game was easily the worst rendition of it I have ever heard.  It sounded like a monastic choir singing it.  Stick to the original!

ROR, when you start yelling at clouds, we're putting you in a home.  :D

Agreed Duffman.  What the hell was the Queen rendition at end of game?  I'm not of same era, and I know the Piano Man is a favorite but for me it's a complete buzz kill at end of games.  It's awful and completely drains the stadium of any life.

The whole Piano Man drop your trouser bit at weddings is a bit puzzling too.  Again, when class of '83 was getting married Billy Joel was not a thing and I'm proud to say it still isn't.

I don't mind the psych music but my buddies and I are prolly some of the only old timers in the stands who truly respect "Get off your ass and Cheer".

So there, get loud Johnnie fans.

As a band, Queen is *really* aggressive when it comes to restricting and policing how their music is licensed and used.  Just spitballin' here, but perhaps that's the reason why the original version is not used at SJU games.

I'm trying to remember if they used to play much of anything after the games over the public address in years past? Or was it just silence?
