Or.... https://youtu.be/gL4mZngP1Gc

Ooh, I am pretty sure that's the one.  Bad stuff.

Watching the video only leads me to the conclusion they should have played this on the video board ;D

Boys of Fall

I got to play We are the Champions twice last Saturday, once for the football UMAC title and once for the NCAA regional volleyball championship over Whitewater.  Definitely the Queen version.

I'm not of same era, and I know the Piano Man is a favorite but for me it's a complete buzz kill at end of games.  It's awful and completely drains the stadium of any life.

The whole Piano Man drop your trouser bit at weddings is a bit puzzling too.  Again, when class of '83 was getting married Billy Joel was not a thing and I'm proud to say it still isn't.

How do you not play Johnny B. Goode at the end of every game?  Might be that new sound you're looking for.
Obviously the song to play at the end of football games is "The Boys of Fall".

Robert Zimmerman

I brought up the music on the board after the GAC game (I was the original old man yelling at clouds). This was before we established the greatness of the trombone. Rumor is that Pat is creating a Trombone board once the season is over.

I do think the music was better executed against Carleton and Bethel, but the GAC game was BRUTAL. At least music wasn't playing while officials were explaining a penalty in the last 2 games, which was incredibly rude against GAC. Still could do better with the music not drowning out the PA guy announcing tackles and "that's another Johnnies first down!"

I do like hype music if used correctly and maybe a little more sparingly. Elton John and Billy Joel-NOT hype music (Rocket Man was played TWICE on Saturday!!!). Does Sal's even still play Piano Man at closing time? My son is a senior at SJU and I had to explain to him why Piano Man was playing at the end of the game. Obviously, I adore Dylan, but I would never play it at a football game. I spot games in the booth at Apollo football games and help with the hype music in the stadium (at Apollo football games, we need all the hype we can get).

Hype music has to hit right away, the song can't kick in after a 45 seconds of "meh." Give me 10 seconds of Zeppelin's "Kashmir" or the first few bars of "Immigrant Song." Some Gary Glitter "Rock n Roll" if you have a time out or end of quarter. It's great when SJU plays "Narco," the song that the Mets closer enters the game to. The beginning of Green Day's "Brain Stew" is fun. Play something for everyone, students and the older folks. The opening 15 seconds of CCR's "Up Around The Bend" will make everyone happy. With Spotify, you don't have to play "Enter Sandman" every game, mix it up!

Maybe the SJU music person reads this board and will take requests! (Dear SJU music person, If you are reading this, I would like to request one of the greatest trombone songs ever made for Saturday's game. Please play the song at the link below at half time so we can hear the song in its entirety, especially the trombone solo at the 1:34 mark).

If you need an assistant to help with music, I will gladly volunteer my services. I wouldn't mind sitting in the box at all on Saturday with the projected forecast.

Weirdest song I have ever played in the stadium (during a blowout), "Careless Whisper" by George Michael. Moms went crazy!

I've got a new one picked out for our Trombone board to play at games, who wants to take the solo?

If we want to get technical with the rights, you can't play Spotify at games, you need to own the song, but Spotify should help the music guy get ideas for which songs/albums to buy.

I'm not a fan of the music, except I don't mind "Shout" after the TD's.  Somehow, that fits.

Make the squirrel go away too.

But on another matter, who remembers how the streaming goes during the playoffs - I seem to remember they can't charge for it, per NCAA?  Anyone remember? Or is it same old, same old?  Or no video streaming at all, just audio? My memory is shot.

Streaming.  No charge.  But I also think that VOJ is not piped over the video so you need to run both streams and sync them.  No ads allowed, I suspect.

What?!  My kids love the squirrel!

12+ years ago, Duff would have been squarely in the squirrel hatred camp. DaddyDuff is softening up a bit  ;)

Pretty sure they do. They even changed the Sal's logo to incorporate two stick men with dropped trousers. Sounds like Dylan is either: a) a fan of the Middy, b) a fan of the La, c) someone that needs to get out a little more. ;)

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I think the Minnesota Wild changed their goal horn song to "Shout" a year or two ago from "Crowd Chant" by Jo Satriani. Seems to work at the X, so someone brought it to Collegeville.

way to bash a coach that holds pretty much every offense record in that league...also im sure we all see coaches turn a 2-8 program into a 10-0 program in one year...have a little respect

Thanks, that's sounding familiar.
