No love for Glenn and Co, I see.
Give it time. Hockey was always the priority, though the multi use facility is a big surprise for everyone I've talked to.

What I find funny is that over year ago when U$T was trying to get the former Ford rail yard for this project it was presented as a hockey only arena...which I never believed for a second. It would have made zero sense to build that size arena and not use if for basketball.
Dual purpose has major challenges with scheduling and maintenance. To bring it on campus for both is great, but I'm not sure if they could've done hockey at Ford, it would have made sense to include basketball there (off campus)

Ford site (highland bridge development) will still very likely include a UST baseball / softball complex; just awaiting a $10 $-15 million donor partner for it. That will be much needed, given softball shares with a soccer field and baseball has a 90 degree centerfield like the old Polo Grounds  ;D.

It looks like a practice rink and practice basketball arena are also integrated into this facility. I guess current basketball spot will be for volleyball and intramurals

So I'm assuming they'll never be able to host home basketball and hockey games on the same day?

I wonder what the turnaround time is to go from one sport's surface to the other.

It'll definitely be interesting, with 4 teams in the same facility and 2 different conferences involved for scheduling

For sure.  I mean, I'm 100% sure they did their due diligence, but I wouldn't have even thought it would have been feasible.

The Badgers do it, albeit with a much larger athletic department and resources. I think Ohio State does as well.

My point is that this arena was up until today always being promoted as a hockey only arena...don't take this the wrong way...as a resident of St Paul and a Johnnie alum....U$T can't be trusted.

Yep, those scheming Tommie's, up to no good.  What will they think of next, Faunch?

Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies... Rivers and seas boiling... Hockey and basketball in the same arena on campus... Trips to Rome AND Winnipeg in the same summer... mass hysteria!

Any excuse to escape lowly D3 to make the jump to D1...oh wait they did that already!

Conference mate UNO has noon women's basketball followed by 7pm hockey regularly. They don't have women's hockey (only men's) so that's one fewer team to schedule around

Presentation College (NAIA) in Aberdeen, South Dakota will be shutting its doors permanently after the school year.

Lots of student athletes looking for a homeā€”not sure if there are any that could be impact players on a MIAC roster.

Didn't Presentation play at SJU ~10 years ago?  I'm too lazy to confirm right now.

You are correct, sir. Sept. 9, 2017 in Collegeville. Johnnies won, 49-14.

It was the game after the 98-0 dismantling of St. Scholastica.
