Hazzben - Can the Royals make waves on the national stage with a new QB?

No.  Bethel goes in cycles.  I think they'll have a couple "down" years while they groom a new QB.  And by down year, I think still think they'll be better than any MIAC team not named SJU.

That would be my way too early take as well.  I think they'll be better than the drop-off that they experienced after Erik Peterson graduated, since they have a lot of guys returning, including the entire WR group, as well as a running back who was emerging as a very good player, but I'd be pretty shocked if they're a top 10 team.  Hopefully they can give SJU a good challenge in one of their two games, obviously way too early assuming that they'll both be in the MIAC championship - which I haven't heard definitively whether that is occurring or not?

He's actually a pretty good guy.  I don't think he has any ill intent, just likes to get a rise out of people.  Too frequently crossed the line and I understand Pat running out of patience with him.

I'll second that.  He bought me a bottle of rum after Linfield beat SJU that one time.

Sometimes the online persona overshadows a guy's true character.  Contrary to what Pat may say, I'm a pretty alright guy in person.  :o

Ice Bear seconds that. Ice is a ****ing third grade teacher, husband, and father of two daughters when not posting on the LLPP or the MIAC PP...

Anyone else -  Has Carlton turned a corner or was last year a blip on the radar?

Carleton has gone 7-3 in back-to-back seasons, so whether they take a step back this year I wouldn't classify last year as a blip. I do think it is likely they don't match the previous two years' records. I'm hoping for 6-4 given three playoff teams on the schedule and a bunch of new starters.

I see that Bethel has their schedule posted for next year now - looks like they open with a bye, so no game until September 9th.

Wartburg and Eau Claire as the non-conference opponents.

I agree Pat, I've been on these boards less than a year and have run across posts that were unnecessarily offense, he's either doing it deliberately for shock value, to get a rise or truly expresses himself that way in daily life...either way, policing gets old...ban and move on.

I always thought he just drank excessively before posting. But agree, it would be a nightmare to monitor him!

That's a lot of drinking when one considers the amount of crazy posting  :o

I call B.S. Duff, you've never bought me any bourbon after SJU as beaten Bethel.  :P You're just as terrible in person as I imagine you to be on these boards.  8-)

Cue joke about how Duff couldn't afford that much liquor (but maybe if he was a U$T grad he could).

The core of the team is really experienced and very good. But no doubt QB is the million dollar question for Bethel next year.

Seeing that you're a Bethel grad, I wouldn't expect you to imbibe!

Which reminds me of a joke:

That'd be a pretty terrible gathering--a couple Baptists just looking at each other waiting for the other to crack first.

This Presbyterian finds that funny. The version I always heard growing up ...

Why do you always invite two (Baptist, Christian Reformed, etc.) guys to go fishing with you? Because if you only invite one he'll drink all the beer, but with two neither will drink a drop.

Thanx for sharing - just looked on the website a couple of weekends back and it still hadn't been posted.

Tell you what, make a wager next year, and when SJU beats Bethel, I'll follow through.  You'll have to pick whether it applies to SJU's regular season victory or their MIAC championship victory, though.  ;D

Regular season vs. champ game is the brain bender. Let me see how the BU QB situation plays out first, then we can circle back on this.

It's more about when you want the booze because we all know that SJU will win both.

I think SJU'll be good, but they'll need to establish a ground game if they want to go anywhere in the playoffs.

The OLine was unexpectedly a non-influence this year.  I look at the game notes and didn't realise they lost three starters, including the center, so I guess I should have expected a drop off.  This year will be interesting as we lose both tackles to graduation.  Or at least they were seniors and we could be losing them.  The interior line all returns so maybe we'll have some more run punch this coming season.
And if I remember correctly the seasons ending injured of 2022 have eligibility remaining and should improve the O-Line play.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Swimming & Diving, Hockey, and Basketball all wrapped up their conference regular seasons this weekend. That means we have some points to award for the George Durenburger Trophy. Here are the current standings. The MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships are this upcoming weekend, which will put a wrap on all winter sports championships.
