And, for those of you who may have an ancillary or tertiary interest in basketball, the MIAC Tournament starts tomorrow night with two quarterfinal games as Macalester (4) hosts St. Olaf (5) in St. Paul, and Saint Mary's (3) hosts Hamline (6) in Winona. Carleton will play the winner of MAC and St. Olaf, while the Johnnies await the winner of SMU and Hamline.

One additional point -- the MIAC reseeds after the first round, so if Hamline wins, they go to Carleton.

That's right. Johnnies will get the highest remaining seed. My bad.

MIAC Basketball Quarterfinals are in the books. An exciting first round! The schedule for the semifinals and final have been adjusted due to the winter weather.

The MIAC Hockey Tournament also begins on Friday Night.

Can we say that word on this board? I don't want to get dingged by Pat for saying the word that starts with a "P" and rhymes with "Schmostitution"

Is it cold today?  Bummer.  #2 and I are driving down to Geelong in an hour (I'm playing hookie from work) to watch Hawthorn's opening pre-season hitout against the Cats.  Mrs Oz has already told me three times to wear a hat and put on sun screen.

A good day for football.  It was great to see the boys back in action.  Two weeks until the regular season starts.

The Hawks are very young but enthusiastic and attack every time they touch the ball.  They will be fun to watch and a handful for any teams that are undisciplined.  Geelong, defending Grand Final Champions, are very disciplined.  The Cats are very, very good, unfortunately.  Anyways, this very young Hawks team has a good core.  The following five or six season should be very exciting - this year... we may be hammered a few times.

Congratulations to Bethel on their first MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championship. The Royals 4x400M relay dominated the final event and propelled the Royals past the Johnnies by two points for the championship.

The winter sports season is now officially complete for the All-Sports Competition. The Johnnies extended their lead in the Durenberger Trophy Standings to 14 points over Carleton. Hamline, Saint Mary's, St. Scholastica, Augsburg, and Concordia are all now mathematically eliminated from winning the Durenberger Trophy.

SJU will be playing Trinity (TX) in 2023!

I don't think the article says where the game will be played but it kinda read like it would be in Texas.  If in Texas then Massey puts SJU as two-point favourites.  If at Collegeville, then SJU are seven point favourites.

What a great matchup.  The big clubs are swinging for the fences now days.  It's great to see.

We have heard this as well, but it is definitely scheduled in Collegeville.
