Yeah, STMA has quite the impressive wrestling trophy case.  They've also had their fair share of alumni excel in college, including numerous DI all-Americans for the Gophers.  Half of their lineup is open-enrolled in the district, though.

A tradition unrivaled...

Back in ancient times, when I was a youth, Wright County was primarily an agricultural area and there were great rivalries in each sport. STMA vs Maple Lake was a great wrestling rivalry with rosters comprised of brothers and cousins. Times change and STMA, with rapid growth due to location close to I94, is now in the Lake Conference along with Buffalo. The Wright County Conference now stretches from New London-Spicer to Jordan (neither of which are located in Wright County) is arguably the toughest combined 2A 3A 4A conference in the state in a variety of sports.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

The Auggies won it!  Congrats (even though I hate anything Augsburg).

Hi, all, I'm afraid I have some sad news.  57Johnnie passed away on Friday, along with his wife.  They both had declining health issues, but to pass away on the same day is a rather happy-sad outcome.

57 was a good man.  The news is rather fresh for me and I just want to say that I'm really glad he posted here.  He was witty and kind.  He will be missed.

That is very sad news. 57Johnnie is one of the people on here that I have met in person. We had this western Wisconsin thing in common as he grew up in Chippewa Falls.

He sent me a Christmas gift one year out of the blue. I'll always remember him with that big smile. Peace Mr. and Mrs. 57.

Oh.  I am so saddened to hear this--literally sitting here at work with tears in my eyes.  He was a true Johnnie, through and through.  Years ago, he introduced himself to me at a tailgate (an OG one by the Annex), and I had a nice morning chatting and swapping stories with him and his wife.  It's bittersweet, but I am comforted that the two of them passed at the same time.  He touched many folks through his long life.  I know the two of them did a lot of work with Special Olympics.

If anyone has a link to the obituaries, I'd appreciate it.

Rest in peace, my friend.  :'(

Ice Bear

Ice Bear sends love, kind thoughts, and prayers to 57Johnnie and his wife's family. Ice his happy that they both were able to leave this place together. While obviously sad there is some real beauty in that.

Very sad to hear about 57. May he rest in peace.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I am sorry to hear this news. Based on what 57 posted here, he seemed like a great man. He will be missed.
