Booze can be a hell of a downer.

Dude was pulled over in his RV....what are the chances he was living in it?
Hope when he gets out he can stay clean.

This week spring sports wrapped up in the MIAC. Gustavus won the baseball regular season championship, and Saint John's won the conference outdoor track and field championship meet.

With that, the competition for the George Durenberger Trophy comes to a close with Saint John's winning their second consecutive all-sports competition (16th overall). The Johnnies won three conference titles outright (Golf, Football, and Outdoor Track & Field), and had four second place finishes (Cross Country, Swimming & Diving, Indoor Track & Field, and Basketball).

Third place Carleton had the greatest finish (as far as I can tell) for a school that does not compete in all MIAC sponsored events. In all the archives, I cannot find such a school finishing any higher than fourth.

And for those of you that are curious about the women's all-sports competition:

And you've got us feelin' alright.

Maybe I am missing something in the chart/graph - but it looks to me like Bethel and Carleton tied for fourth with 69 points and St. Olaf is in third place with 70 points.

It looks like it does take a rocket scientist to add those numbers up.

The secret is out. I am, in fact, not a rocket scientist. Dangit. I input the baseball and track scores and did not re-sort the final point totals.

I'll take my lumps for my failing to pay attention to detail prior to publication.

Another Catholic school bites the dust:

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Medaille University announced it will be closing this summer, following the termination of its integration deal with Trocaire College last week.

The official last date for the school will be Aug. 31.

Medaille cited "financial instability, declining enrollment, outstanding liabilities, and other challenges that are impacting institutions of higher education across the region, state and nationally" as its reasons for closing.

Congratulations to the 33 members of the highly exclusive MIAC all conference baseball team.  Particularly to the first basemen, of which the MIAC managed to whittle down to just 4.   ;D

St. Olaf just doesn't have as nice of a number as Carleton or Bethel.  My guess is Bethel asked to not have those numbers next to each other as someone at the school might get the wrong idea.  I will stop with the stupid, childish, and inappropriate jokes now.

You've been here long enough to know that stupid, childish, and inappropriate jokes are tenets of this board.
