Good news for Johnnie fans who have been robbed of local media coverage (obviously Frank is incredible with the school's site) since the evisceration of the St. Cloud Times. Andy Rennecke, longtime former SC Times writer, will be covering the Johnnies as part of his new gig with St. Cloud Live.

Part of my coverage at @StCloudLive will include @SJUFootball @SJUJohnnies. Looking forward to covering Gary Fasching's team this fall. Don't worry: @rajko1973 has promised to assist me with the history portion of this. There's nobody better than him. Can't wait for the fall!

Good for Andy and St. Cloud Live. Glad to have him covering the Johnnies. Isn't the SC Times dead yet?

77 days until kickoff in Collegeville!

Good to hear from you Rich. Vince was a good guy, gone way too early. He is missed.

I just registered our son for his first season of football!  :o

I haven't followed the baseball for a while but a clip of the Twins' closer, Duran, tossing 105 mph heaters came up so I thought I would check out the standings.  "That's a pretty nasty closer," I thought.  "Maybe the Twinks are doing well."

I turn to mlb.com to see the standings and my heart skips a beat as I see that the Twins are in first in the Central.  Then I notice they are only one game over .500.  And that they are the only team in the Central with a winning record as we approach the halfway point of the season.  It's amazing that every team in the Central has played in the World Series since I was in high school and every team but the Indians have won the series.  Neither of the other AL conferences has had every team make the WS in the same period, much less 4/5 win it.  In fact, of the NL conferences only the West has had all teams make the WS in that time period but only three have won it.

The Central is the deepest, most balanced conference of my adult life apparently.  But still, it seems to suck every year.

BDB

Oz, the only reason they are hanging around .500 is the pitching staff is pretty good and they play in the AL Central. They can't hit a lick, especially with men on base.

The Joey Gallo experiment started off hot and has burned out. Buxton can't play center field and is pretty much a designated hitter. Should have traded him last year for everyone's sake. Now they have his constant injured status with 5.5 years left on a monster contract.

And don't get me going on Rocco. He pulls the starters way too early on a regular basis and it appears that is grinding more and more on the pitching staff. The strength of the team and he pulls them in the 4th when they get around 80 pitches, no matter if they are throwing a 3 hitter or whatever.

This treading water around the .500 mark is about to end I predict. But who knows, they play in the AL Central.

AO

Hey we're only 15-12 against the AL Central, and we haven't played the hapless A's yet.

Retired Old Rat

I'm with BDB on Rocco. Tired of his 100% analytics driven approach. In his defense, that comes from the top.

Rocco sucks.  As does Kepler.  And why is Pagan still on this team?

The funny thing about moving overseas in my early 20's, is that it sometimes seems like I have been frozen in amber.  My Twins teams are still filled with players from the '87 and '91 championships.

My part-time job in high school was as a weekend DJ at 1320 KOZY, the AM station up in Grand Rapids.  During a commercial break in another loss in '85, Joe Angel or Herb Carneal (I can't remember which) went through the lineup with the mike on.  I can still remember laughing in the studio with the names they were giving.  Two have stuck with me to this day:

Tim "Don't hit it to me" Teufel and Tom "Strikes out more than a lonely bachelor" Brunansky.  Well, Bruno managed to win it all with the Twins in '87 and Teufel, amazingly, won the WS the very next year with the Mets.

"Mellow tunes as you reel in another muskellunge."
"Mosquito's bugging you? KOZY radio is your repellant."
"Even moose like KOZY-AM."
"KOZY-AM and ice cold Hamm's. Heaven on earth."
"Out of minnows? You never run out of KOZY-AM."
"Since we broadcast from a basement, KOZY-AM is here for you during tornado warnings."
"Oz on the weekends. KOZY-AM request line is open."
