Here's a look at the guys that started the final game vs. Wartburg last fall:

OFFENSE
WR  11  Jimmy Buck, Jr. (6-4, 210) - Returned
WR  7  Nick VanErp, Sr. (5-11, 170)  - Returned, +5 lbs
...

7/11 return on offence.
8/11 return on defence.
4/5 special teams.

And the notables are so notable that I'm surprised they aren't starters.  Pretty much we're only one superstar DL down on last season, which is damn good place to be starting the year.  We are much better set to take on Trinity, UWW and Bethel than I thought.

Well, I wasn't crazy giddy about this season until I saw this post, Sam.  Nice work.  The lid is gonna come off!

Strangely one of the most visceral memories is of my socks being wet from the morning dew and how annoying it was the rest of the day.

One thing that sticks out in my memory from HS 2-a-days is sacking out on the couch between practices and watching reruns of "Dukes of Hazzard."  ;D

The wife and I did an overnight trip to St . Croix Falls and stumbled upon their gem of a high school football stadium. Reminds me a bit of Clemens.

Several of the notables were guys that started games at other points in the season. I didn't compile an exhaustive list, but basically tried to take a snapshot of the guys that are coming back that started at the beginning, middle, and end of the season. I also didn't comb through the participation statistics, so if there are guys that I failed to mention that contributed a lot on certain formations, that's my bad. I'm sure there are several.

Not a single player from Grand Rapids.  I can't recall a Grand Rapids player ever on the SJU football roster.

GoJohnnies.com rosters go back to 1998. In that entire time, there have been two players associated with Grand Rapids:

1) Andrew Ball (OL) 2005-2008 (who had both Grand Rapids and Albert Lea listed on his bio--go figure on that one)
2) Tom Soltys (QB) 1995-1998

I consider this pretty remarkable because of GR's size as a city of 10K+.

Nice. Did anyone else have a "Soap Scrimmage" ... where you donated bars of soap for the team to use in the showers, as an entrance fee to watch the game?

Say "Hello" to the MIAC Sports Network:

Looks like everything will be broadcast exclusively through MIACSN. I checked the website (https://miacsportsnetwork.com/) and the Johnnies opener vs. Trinity has a link for the game.

Wonder what they'll charge per game/season/sport?

It says: "Member schools will have the ability to monetize their livestreams and keep every fan connected to their teams..."

I would venture a guess that SJU's fees will remain the same.

This has got to be better than Stretch, no?

From SJU's release:

SJU's radio broadcasts provided by The Bear WBHR-660 AM will continue to serve as the commentary for all home video broadcasts for football, basketball and hockey. All WBHR-660 AM radio broadcasts, including Football Weekly, will also be streamed separately at https://www.660wbhr.com.

Nothing about fees (yet). Maybe there was enough benefit running everything through the conference that they don't need the fees anymore? We will have to wait and see.

My only experience with Hudl is the uploaded game film for prospects. I had no idea they did anything live. I would hope its better than Stretch.

Stretch provided a relatively cutting-edge experience about 5-7 years ago, but I feel like they need to step up their game a little more.

No Track!  That might explain why nearby Chisago Lakes also has no track, good ideas spread.

Texas Ole

I always thought the St. Olaf feeds were pretty solid. There were some times where the student manning the camera got a little lost. Also a few games where the cameras fogged up some. I think it comes down to what broadcast assets are available to the school. It always seemed St. Olaf had extra equipment which may have been the result of broadcasting other campus events unrelated to sports.
