Art, excellent use of Monkey StompTM.  I don't expect The Cru to crap the bed again.  I could see that game going either way, but if Trinity is back to full or near-full strength, I think they'll win.

I'm wondering if Trinity will have their All-American linebacker for the first half. It sounds like they were going to appeal the targeting ejection to the NCAA.

Targeting should not penalized with an ejection in D3 or any level that does not have replay. Assess a 15 yard penalty and have the player sit out for 5 plays. If he gets another personal foul penalty in the game then eject him.
Also there's enough video at D3 games that there could be a review process.
After the player was ejected at SJU on Saturday there was a video replay on the video board and it showed clearly that it was not targeting.

100% agree. Don't take away the penalty, but take away the ejection. That is how it is officiated at the high school level in MN. Officials are told when in doubt, throw the flag, and it works because there is no ejection. This really shouldn't be all that difficult to change.

Take this weekend, for example.  No one in the stadium thought it was targetting until the refs stood discussing it for so long.

The play was directly in front of our seats, and I thought it was targeting (granted, I had a few tailgate beers and emotions were running high), but once the replay showed on the Jumbotron, I saw that it clearly was not targetting and reversed my decision.

You're asking a referee to make a full-speed judgement call.  Without replay, I don't see how any referee could be expected to accurately make that call correctly with any consistency.

Even VOJ instantly called it not targeting.  You must have been loaded.  ;)

I'm really looking forward to the Bethel/Wartburg matchup this Saturday. The show is now Mr. Bolts but Bethel, even at home, will certainly have to do more than just depend on Bolt having a strong game. I'm hoping for Geebli to make a mark on Saturday and help Bolt settle in (heck of an opponent to try and settle in against). I'm also pleased in my growth as a human this week that I have a grasp on exactly where a game I'm speaking about is being played.

Another week another HUGE game for the Johnnies as well. I absolutely love their scheduling and will be rooting hard for them for yet another weekend.

Game of the week? To me it has to be UMHB at Trinity. One of these two Texas powers will be o-for two games into the season. I am hoping it is UMHB but just looking for a very competitive , entertaining contest.

Hoping for great games and no major injuries for all this weekend.

Of the predictions on tomorrow's game against Whitewater, they've all predicted a close St John's loss. I'm anxious to see how we play! Would be surprised if it's not a great crowd in attendance!

Augsburg continues its lights out performance against the spread. The Auggies are 10-1 going back to the start of the 2022 season. The Auggies covered the 23.5-point spread by the middle of the third quarter and never looked back.

The Johnnies woes against the spread continue (3-8 ATS since the beginning of 2022). They won the game outright, but missed the spread as the offense kicked a field goal to open overtime play. Had the Johnnies scored a TD and made the extra point, they would have not only made a miraculous comeback for the ages, but would have compounded that miracle with a secondary miracle to trail by 17 with under 9 minutes to play and cover the spread.

Concordia-Moorhead had UWEC covered early, but gave it up and still had a chance to cover late. The Cobbers scored twice in the fourth quarter on short drives (2:49 TOP and 1:19 TOP, respectively) to tie the game. A UWEC 33-yard field goal with 24 seconds to play made it all but impossible to cover in regulation without a TD.

Central had the game in firm control for nearly the entirety of the game, and looked as though they would cover the spread when they scored early in the fourth quarter to go up by 24 points. But St. Olaf scored twice with under three minutes to play and easily beat the 25.5 point spread.

Gustavus went into the half up 27-0, and cruised to cover the 35.5 point spread less than 5 minutes into the second half. Buena Vista had no fight in them until it was impossible to beat the spread. Jake Breitbach is a guy to watch out for this season, reeling in four TD passes on 13 receptions for 235 yards from George Sandven.

Crown scored on a 62-yard run by Jonathan Wamsley with 3:40 remaining in the third quarter to put the game within a half point of the 28.5 point spread. The Crown defense held Hamline to a lone field goal for the remainder of the game, but the offense could not find the mojo to score again. Hamline covers the spread for only the third time in the last 11 games.

UM-Morris went into the half leading Macalester, 23-22, and had the momentum to not only beat the 24.5-point spread but win the game outright. Macalester came back to re-take the lead and threaten the spread. A UM-Morris 24-yard TD run by Blake Johnson sealed the deal and the Cougars beat the spread.

The Tommies jumped out to a 22-0 first half lead, but the Yellow Jackets did just enough to keep the game within the 20.5-point spread as the Tommies won, 36-26.

River Falls. Wow. Did not see that one coming. The super dog of all super dogs. The Falcons covered the 20.5-point spread, won outright, and flipped the spread, winning by 23 points. Unbelievable.

It's finally Saturday! A little over 5 hrs until kickoff. Let's make it two in a row against the Warhawks!

There is a you tube channel titled Division 1 Rejects. It features news about DII and DIII by a couple of guys who seem to be pretty knowledgeable. They have featured the Johnnies as the Game of the Week the first two weeks of the season. They had a fairly long interview with (?) Borgerding of River Falls this latest edition. Check it out.

Gonna be another great day for some D3 MIAC football. I've gotta work, but I'll be checking in on-line.

In a game of equals, I'll take a win. Way to go Cobbers!

Bad day for the leaders and former leader of the MIAC
BU and U$T combined for 2 points
Johnnies played about 7 minutes of football between the end of the first half and beginning of second.

Well-I have seen both games in person and this D is bad. I hope we have a few new starters for bethel game with what 50-60 players on D to choose from?
What are the teams converting on 3rd down against us /maybe 75%?
There needs to be some serious evaluation during the off week.
