Man, that game was not good. UWW spanked us hard. A lot of fixing needed from here.

Trinity is up 21-10 on UMHB with 7:33 to go in the 1st half.

Would the alarm bells be ringing louder if we were 0-2 rather than 1-1? It will be interesting to see how Bethel looks next week. The Woz and Metah shoes are looking like big ones to fill after a couple of games.

Any details from the Bethel game today? I did not get the chance to watch. Tough loss but hopefully they can regroup for next week.

Tough offensive day for Bethel it appears with only ~200 yds total offense. Used 2 QB's (Sr in 1st half and Soph in 2nd half) with similar results. They'll have to find ways to get their WR corps more involved as leading receiver was a hybrid slot/RB with 5 catches for 28 yds. Defense appears to have held their own for most part. Wartburg had 2 scoring drives of 5 plays 45 yds and 1 play 52 yds. Wartburg did enough to win as Bethel could not get on track all day. Credit Wartburg defense for that.

Bethel plays at UW-Eau Claire next week so maybe that's a game to help figure out the offense before heading to Collegeville the following week.

Bethel played a good game today and really left it all on the field.  They brought 7-8 defenders into the box 2/3 of the time and did a great job filling running lanes and in man coverage.  Wartburg missed a few opportunities to exploit the man coverage downfield, and had a few plays greased up but didn't execute.   I really feel bad for the Geebli kid (RB #5).  He was a real weapon for the Royals in the first half but had a bad broken ankle to end the half.  Bethel was a much more dangerous offense with him on the field.  Also I was a bit surprised that Bethel switched QB at halftime.  #7 Bolt was 8-13 passing in the first half and while he struggled to throw the ball with accuracy down the field, 3 of the incomplete passes were drops by WR's and I thought he did a great job leading the offense. The Soph QB in the 2nd half fumbled the ball 2 times in the second half and the offense just seemed out of sync.  It seemed like a typical first game for Bethel as they made some silly penalties and mistakes.  Overall, I think Bethel is a real risk/reward defense this year and they'll roll the dice more than other defenses Wartburg has played in the last few years.  If the Royals can get more consistent on offense they'll be tough to beat, but I hope they can get it squared up in 2 weeks for St John's.

Whitewater travels to Belton, TX, next Saturday to face UMHB. Looks like a very real possibility that UMHB could start the season 0-3. That would be a first for their program. As I'm sure St John's is grateful for their bye after their embarrassing performance today, I'm sure UMHB is wishing they had one! They've had a meteoric rise since their program begin in 1998. Opened '98 & '99 with back to back losses. Will hopefully be able to tune into that game next Saturday!

Having not watched or listen to the game, only reading about it, the only thing I can say is YIKES! Monkey Stomp Plus  :-\
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Not sure that we have any regular GAC posters but if I'm forgetting someone forgive me and I invite you to be my guest next Saturday in Menomonie.

I have 8 season tickets on the 50 and usually only use 4. Send me a DM if interested.

UMHB is not getting the line play they're known for.  Second week in a row they were held under 100 yards total rushing and the pressure on Horn was pretty marginal, even when they threw max blitzes into the equation.  Trinity, which couldn't find any kind of running room against the Johnnies, actually gained more yards on the ground than via the air (213 vs 189) and ended the game on a "stop us if you can" 13 play, 85 yard, nearly seven minute drive (with UMHB taking all of their timeouts) where the only pass thrown actually lost a yard.

Their young QB played well (when he had time; Trinity had 5 sacks and several QBHs) but Harmel's two INTs over the middle were game changers, especially the one in the first half after the Cru took over in the TU red zone after a blocked punt.

The only other times UMHB started the season 0-2 were early in the program's history and both included a loss to Trinity.  Avoiding 0-3 against UWW will be very difficult but at least they get to try from the comforts of their own home.

Johnnies have played 15 minutes of good football and those 15 minutes have been filled with errors by their opponents. Lucky to be 1-1...Bethel will improve over the next week and has plenty of film to game plan against what looks to be a porous Johnnie defense.
What's the chance the MIAC doesn't have a team in the top 10 rankings this week?
