You think Bethel's D is that much better than UWW? I think SJU scores 28 and probably gives up 24.

No, I do think that UWW is a better D.  But I think this game will be much slower than our game against UWW.

With a little more reflection concerning the Johnnies hosting the Royals this coming weekend - home field is good for at least a score, and that may be all that is needed. I suspect this game will be closer than the pundits are predicting. But inexperience and growing pain mistakes on BU's part will be what causes them to drop this game. If some of that "Johnnie Magic" could rub off and somehow become "Bethel Providence", then we might even win the game. I'm guessing the score will be closer to 21 to 17, in favor of St. John's.

Some of my thinking is based on my belief that Bethel won't be able to keep its O on the field and the D, while admittedly impressive and appreciated, will just get worn down over the course of the game giving up a possible 24. Great thoughts here. Im very excited for this game.

"Johnnie Magic" can be somewhat fickle. It comes and goes as it pleases. My gut says this is not a Johnnie Magic weekend.
The Johnnies may play well and may win by a little or a lot, but I just don't think we see anything like we saw against Trinity a few weeks ago.

Boys of Fall

The temperature won't be an issue and the field is turf, but there is a decent chance of rain on Saturday.  This might hamper the passing game.

Was in Burlington WI for a couple days. Far SE Wiscy. Told my wife we were close to FIBs. (Ask a WW person)

On the "Welcome to Burlington" sign on the edge of this beautiful town, it also says "Boyhood home of Tony Romo."

Ok I figure, local kid has done very well for himself. Today having lunch at McDonald's (don't tell me I am a big spender, I blush), I ask Dave, the senior citizen running food out to the car side people if there was any other Tony Romo stuff around. I figured maybe the HS football field or something.

Now Dave being the champion that he is says "no, just the sign entering town, but his mom comes in here all the time."

Gotta love Dave.

Dave really should have known. There's not enough going on in Burlington to miss it.

What is everyone thinking on Auggie @ Gusties??? Breitbach for Gusties putting up some receiving yardage again this year so far. Auggie gonna make another move to be that "3rd team" in MIAC?

Shellackings of UNW-SP and Martin Luther don't tell you much.  I would lean towards GAC but think it could be a good game.  If Auggie Tech really wants to make a bid as the MIAC's "3rd team", they're going to need a statement win.

Yes, Augsburg will make that move and win this game 31-28 on a last-second FG by the best kicker in the MIAC. Plenty of returning talent on defense at LB, Dline, and DB. The QB Sheehan is a 4-year starter. He has receivers and running backs as options in the passing game and he runs well. He is not quite Ayrton Scott while running the ball but he is probably a better passer.

AO has the spread at Auggies +9.5.
Auggies are 11-1 against the spread dating back to last season. They may not win this one, but I think it is going to be very close. If I were picking a team to beat the spread and win the game outright, this one would be it this week.

Should have gone to Fred's. Worlds Best Burgers. There is a bit of Romo (and other) memorabilia around. Established by the late great Fred Mabson.

I agree with OldAuggie here.  I see Auggie Tech winning this one outright.  The schedule works in their favor.  They haven't had competition yet, but have been able to implement their schemes, and build up confidence.  They should be able to score, and while the defense might not be great it looks to be better than in years past.

Cool woodwork in that place and I'm pretty sure Fred built most of it!

Romo literally came with a couple of months of attending UWW and would have had Eastern Illinois not stepped in at the last second to offer him a scholarship.

You missed the Chocolate Festival.  That's big time in Burlington.
