Auggies win the game 33-31 and beat the spread...

Alright, I'm calling it:  Auggie Tech won't beat the spread (24.5) this week.

This is one of those things where eventually things have to regress to the mean. Auggie has only lost one game against the spread since the start of last season (12-1 ATS).

Also, for reference, the spread for last year's SJU-AUG game was Augsburg +50.5.

Not saying we won't win-just always worried about covering a big spread.

Still have a lot of years of paying them back for '11 and '12.  Pour it on, Johnnies!

Two teams coming off big wins...often this leads to one or both teams coming out flat. I don't have much faith in how this SJU teams has started games...for some reason we like to play the first quarter and even half on roller skates instead of taking it to our opponent. Augsburg has a good coach and some athletes...it won't be good if we let them hang around and gain confidence. We're favored and probably should be but we're nowhere near as good as we've been the last 5 season....we might have the talent but it hasn't jelled. I don't make predictions because...well I don't like to. I expect a somewhat competitive matchup.

Just got back from our son's game (12-6 over Wayzata).  Steamy, indeed!

Carleton's star WR (Diamond) must've been injured last week. Not in the lineup today. Pity, he's very good and has shouldered the offense in critical moments of games. We'll see how they compete in his absence at Concordia.

WOW - the last play in the BU-Gustavus is gonna make highlight reels.

Carleton knocks off Concordia in Moorhead 36-35. Huge targeting call (bad call imo, I went back and watched frame by frame. Shoulder to shoulder) in the 4th against Carleton on a Cobber 3rd and 18. Concordia scored two plays later and had a 14 point lead. Knights came back, scored with 19 seconds left and successfully got the 2 point conversion. Knights improve to 4-0 heading into the Cereal Bowl
