It's Homecoming weekend in Collegeville this weekend. 2023 is the 20th anniversary of SJU's 2003 football national championship. The team will join 10 other inductees in the J-Club Hall of Honor Saturday night.

I was kind of wondering this, as I turned on my furnace yesterday. :)

The Mrs. is going out of town tomorrow, so I should be good at least through the weekend.  ;)

Still going strong here. Conveniently ran the oven's self-clean yesterday which put out a lot of heat (actually opened some windows to clear it out).
Usually 65 or so in the morning and then warms up through the day.

Same with the exception of the oven.  Guessing that Saturday morning will be the breaking point - assuming we don't get much, if any sunlight on Friday to warm it up, Saturday morning will be chilly.  Might even be the case by Friday morning.

Fireplaces are still cheating.  "haven't used the furnace yet, but have a space heater in each room!  :D "

Where's BDB with the annual "last to turn on the furnace" contest?

Lol I had been thinking it was too early to bring the subject up but I guess not.

Therefore I proclaim the great fall  "Master of My Domain" last furnace turn on competition 2023 is on.

May the coldest home win!

Obviously Pat and I are already out.  ;D

BDB

And welcome back Oz!

My only question is did you use worms, crawlers, minnows or maybe a Rapala or Lazy Ike?   8-)

Also, on the fishing stats for those who are curious.  In the six days we caught well over 100 fish, seven of which were good ones.  The good ones were three marlin, one yellowfin, one bluefin tuna, and two Spanish mackerel (which unlike in the Gulf of Mexico are excellent eating).  We caught a couple barracuda and I have a pic of the teeth on one somewhere.  Nasty buggers could easily take a finger - the deck hands kept us well away and were very careful themselves when dealing with the barracuda.  A couple reef sharks.  Otherwise everything was bait fish for the marlin, as fast you could reel them in.

EDIT: Lol, BDB.  We actually caught one of the marlin on a lure rather than with 'live' bait.  It was the most unimpressive chunk of coloured plastic hanging on a giant hook that you had ever seen.  But I guess it looks tasty to marlin.

Some great catches there for sure Oz. I'm really happy for you that you got to do that. Was that your first time hitting the ocean hard? Great experience man.

Over here in Schenectady, New York I have not touched the furnace yet. My guess is that even here in Upstate, New York we're a good 5-10 degrees warmer than Minnesota.

Big game for my Royals this weekend out at 4-1 Augsburg. Looking for a big W on the road to get to 4-2 with only 1 loss is the MIAC.
A long time fan of DIII Football!

Major +k for the Ike reference. A classic.

Great pictures Oz, yet another reason to get back to Australia.

Nah. I'm a Navy veteran, although the seas were very rough the first day and my sea legs had not been challenged like that in a loooong time.

Probably we need to find out if there is anyone still in the challenge to dethrone Duffman, the perennial champion.

A reminder to be eligible you must reside in Minny, Wiscy, eastern No Dak, Yoopers or northern IA to qualify. Of course, any resident of Manitoba or Ontario are entered in automatically.

So if we have any brave souls that still haven't fired up the old Lennox, Bryant, Rheem, Trane or what have you, let's hear it. Throw your hat in the ring and give Duff a run for his money. Be aware it's a mighty tall task to take him down.  8-)

How about a last one to turn off their AC for those of us in Texas!?!?

AO

I got caught napping and when I woke up the furnace was on. Didn't even blow out the sprinklers before the furnace came on this year.
