My team can't win the MIAC anymore but I can still win the last-furnace competition.

Have you heard that the Hot Carls are in first place in the MIAC?!?!

They'll let just anyone compete in the MIAC these days!

Oz, appreciated the photos of your fishing trip and furnace gifs.

Saw this graphic from Logan Hansen, https://x.com/loghanratings/status/1712934554137158053?s=46&t=6oioRYoVO1fAtYidixHaCg, and it points towards an obvious must win for Bethel this weekend. SJU sees a chance to gain little and lose a lot as well although their playoff chances fall more into a 50/50 rather than near 0%. That Bethel Augsburg game will be an interesting one. Given the non-conference it seems like Augsburg would still need to win the conference outright or see others fall in order to gain a pool C. Not sure how much wiggle room Bethel or SJU has for slips either.

In addition to homecoming, it is also the tackle cancer game. Nice read and I learned about familial connections within the Johnnies team I didn't know about: https://gojohnnies.com/news/2023/10/12/st-cloud-orthopedics-feature-tackle-cancer-game-hits-home-for-many-on-sju-football-team.aspx.

Yep - wholeheartedly agree - the two games today (St. John's/Carleton and Bethel/Augsburg) will pretty much determine who is in the title game in week 11. The Johnnies are at home, so they are almost a shoe-in for a win. Bethel going down Snelling to the Auggies makes it more interesting, but I suspect my Royals will take care of business - but you never know.

Looking ahead to week 11 play - if it is a game between BU and the Johnnies, BU has to win to get into the playoffs. The Johnnies could get a pool C bid. And if BU loses, the MIAC will only have one team in the field of 32 this year.

Auggie gets the win today which leads to the greatest controversy in the short history of the MIAC championship game...playing at Edor Nelson field and only having room for about 3,000 spectators.

Where did you hear THAT?

Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I'm hoping for a great day of injury free and enjoyable MIAC football for all. Let's go Bethel!

Duff Jr. wrapped up his first season of tackle football today.  He scored his first touchdown this afternoon!  They started the season 0-2 before rattling off 6 straight wins.  It was a fun season!

Congrats! Nothing better than seeing your son or daughter learn, try and achieve at whatever they are involved in.

Great parents make that possible.

SJU took care of business early. Almost hit 100 yards rushing but I guess that matters little when you throw for nearly 500. Nice to see Buck back on the field (knee brace on). Hope the Carleton QB is alright after getting up ended.

An effective run game and a defense getting 6 turnovers means Bethel is still king of the skyline mountain.

Hard to believe Jacob Wetterling would be 45 today. I was living in Sartell went his abduction/murder happened.

KSTP did a recap of the story recently: https://kstp.com/kstp-news/top-news/patty-wetterling-reflects-on-abduction-death-of-jacob-wetterling-nearly-34-years-later/

Looks like Bethel had a nice W over a decent Auggies team yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't get to tune in like I usually do. After watching a "couldn't do anything on offense" Union College team fall on their face at Ithaca, I had to go and rage mow the the lawn for sanity purposes.

Auggie looked horrible yesterday. Sheehan struggled with 4 INT's in first half. Their offense in general did nothing until last minutes game when Bethel backups were in. Bethel offense didn't have to do much besides run the ball, had short fields, etc.
