Well, I missed the game on Sunday, but daylight savings is finally switching and the starting times become more manageable.  No more soft Sundays for me.

Hard to believe Jacob Wetterling would be 45 today. I was living in Sartell went his abduction/murder happened.

KSTP did a recap of the story recently: https://kstp.com/kstp-news/top-news/patty-wetterling-reflects-on-abduction-death-of-jacob-wetterling-nearly-34-years-later/

I can't believe they found the guy after so much time.  It was the guy they suspected right at the beginning but couldn't quite get the proof, right?

I just read up on it.  They convicted him of child porn and he gave up the Wetterling details as part of that settlement.  His sentence ends in 2037 but the state can postpone his release indefinitely as a child predator.

Auggie gets the win today which leads to the greatest controversy in the short history of the MIAC championship game...playing at Edor Nelson field and only having room for about 3,000 spectators.

Clairvoyant.

Apparently not...wants the hell happened to Auggie?

In short - BU's lines - both offensively and defensively, were dominant.  They were getting pressure and sacks while only rushing 4 - (I think they ended up with 7 or 8 sacks on the day, and there were probably another 7 or 8 times they either hurried or chased Sheehan out of the pocket, which I think was a big contributor to the numerous interceptions.  There were moments when the Augsburg offense would string a few plays together and they looked incredibly explosive, but that never lasted.

Offensively, BU was able to run very effectively, which limited how much they needed to pass, which is not an area of strength.

Maybe the Augsburg players looked at how they had played a very close game against an SJU team that handled Bethel pretty easily, and thought it was going to be a cakewalk to knock off BU?  I'm sure that wasn't the message from the coaching staff, but kids....

My wife just mentioned to me that there is a 20/20 documentary available on Hulu about the Jacob Wetterling case, FWIW.

A former roommate was working at Tom Thumb that night and waited on the boys in the store. He was one of the last people to see Jacob alive.

I watched some of the replay; enough to see what was happening, and it looked like Bethel wanted the victory more than the Auggies. Sheehan had no pocket and Bethel ran the ball well.

Where did you hear THAT?

I really don't mean to be a dink, but who at Carleton thought this tweet was a good idea?  You beat a few mid-to-bottom tier MIAC teams and you thump your chest before a game against SJU?  Also, what has Carleton done to bolster that "#2 conference" ranking?  Wise move.  I hope the crow tastes good.

We handily beat the defending SCIAC champion, which is exactly the kind of win that helps bolster the #2 conference ranking.  I'm not really sure why you're taking offense to a historical conference doormat being proud of finally getting some momentum.  Wins over Hamline, Moorhead and St. Olaf have historically been wins that Carleton would celebrate.  I guess Johnnies fans being offended by it at least shows that we're out of the cellar and into the mid-field.

Agreed. The MIAC-4 beating the SCIAC-1 is a good thing for the MIAC, even if the SCIAC is the No. 20 conference.

Not offended in the least.  Just saying, maybe don't poke the bear and then give up 63 points.  Thought you nerds would be smarter than that.  ;)

It's only our third 5-0 start in the last 30 or so years.  We're still getting used to it.

Heaven forbid a team celebrates their successes. Let alone broadcasts them in an effort to drum up more recruiting/alumni interest. That would be a truly wicked thing and I won't stand for it. Glad someone had the courage to call them out on that

Celebrate your success all you want.  Hell, I respect what Coach Journell is doing with the program and welcome a better Carleton program.  I would be willing to bet that the person in charge of social media isn't a coach or player.  If you want to celebrate a 5-0 start, and that's great by me, but by laying claim to 1st place in the conference prior to playing any of the big dogs, or even aspiring big dogs, you should expect to get called out on it.  Sorry to ruffle your feathers--take it as a sign of respect.

Texas Ole

Carleton has had a great year!  Being 5-0 and tied for first in the MIAC is great. Maybe don't poke the bear, but also celebrate your team.  I don't think they expected to beat SJU, but I also sense the school is trying to build something that can compete.

Congrats on a great season so far Knights!  You played a great game against the Oles and made us pay for the dumbest homecoming football game decision I've ever seen. Good luck the red of the way.
