For any Johnnie fans with more insight than what I have, what do you attribute St John's underwhelming play to? Is this a one-off down year?

I think we can make it until the weekend without turning on the furnace, but not sure if we will make it through the weekend.

Looking at the forecast, I am strongly considering flipping the switch tonight.  :-\

Ask this again next year and I'll let you know.

I have been staying/fishing at my cabin on the weekends, heated with wood.

It's very hard to pinpoint. There is a lot of talent but seems to be a lack of focus. If this is the new normal I don't like it.  >:(
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

66.5 degrees in the house when I woke up this morning!

Like sfury pointed out earlier, I don't think this is the end of Johnnie football. SJU barely beat an average UST team in 2003 when they won the national championship. Sometimes teams lay an egg and underperform in a game or two during the season. Here's how I see it.

Passing Offense-Above average
Running game-Below average
Defense-Below average

Duffman has been saying all year that the front 4 isn't getting a lot of pressure and I agree. We just don't have an all-american D lineman this year that wreaks havoc and make opposing quarterbacks make mistakes or creates 2nd/3rd and long situations. The secondary has blown more coverages this year too. Two GAC touchdowns were wide open due to people missing/late to assignments (not to mention we didn't get Larson and Buck in to defend the Hail Mary like SJU practices). The defense just can't get off the field like they typically do (stupid penalties have also contributed to this). Although the passing game looks great at times, when it isn't clicking or we have drops, it forces the D to be on the field more. The lack of a running game exposes the D too with the ever important time of possession stat.

Not only this, but having that guy that demands attention frees up the other d-linemen to make plays.  We got spoiled with Woz and Meta last year (although I don't miss hearing "THAT'S A MIKE DROP!").

65 at our place, but I took the dog on a walk, came back in, and turned the furnace on.  As Kramer would say, "I'M OUT!"  Congrats to Bobby Z.

The MIAC Furnace Championship has two division now. The tougher division is "No Furnace" and the weaker division is "No Furnace-Gas Fireplace-Aided." We did use our gas fireplace in the living room occasionally in the evenings, so Duffman you still could be the champ. Your strength of schedule will take a hit though for competing against lesser fireplace-using competition.

DuffMan

Oh, so the truth comes out!  ;)  Indeed, we have not turned on the gas fireplace yet.

Looking at tomorrow's forecast, I may need to bring a heater with.  :o

I think that Bobby Z's honesty has delivered Duffman yet another furnace championship. However, I'm not sure we have seen GoldandBlueBU tap out yet, and a controversy is brewing on whether Retired Old Rat in his apartment is indeed a qualified competitor.

I think ROR is in the Canadian Football League of furnace competitions. It's just a different game.  ;D
