That probably won't hold-but if it were, brutal for bethel.

It was definitely something they saw on film. Gustavus sold out on the block and all bethel had to do was open a crease.  here's the playon twitter

Jung for Bethel is an AA. 3rd week in a row with a pick. Tied for the national lead. Didn't keep his pick 6 streak going. Instead had a pass break up in the endzone that resulted in Farm INT and stopped Gustavus on 4th and goal. And 10 tackles with 2 TFL. His anticipation and ball skills are elite and he's just as good against the run. Entire secondary is very good. Williams and Jung are on another level.

Yeah that'd be a tough draw for sure. UWW is cooking right now.

The projected bracket is posted- it shows bethel at Whitewater, and SJU hosting Wheaton.

I'm thinking the committee will have different ideas this year and we'll all be shocked/appalled by what they do. I have nothing to base this on but gut instinct.

In another, but similar vein, how do you think the two upset losses of Linfield and River Falls yesterday affected the final Region 6 Regional Ranking that only the committee sees?

Congrats to Bethel on winning the MIAC and to Coach J getting a MIAC Championship for his farewell season. Hoping they do well in the playoffs.

For those who don't know, an incredibly gutsy call on Bethel's first possession today. They faced a 4th and 10 at their own 24 and ran a fake punt to the up back Ellingson, and he took it to the house 76 yards. I can't imagine how that might have changed the game if the play had failed. They must have seen something on tape to call that play in that situation. Some may look at the stats from today's game and see Bethel only threw for 66 yards, but they really didn't need to throw the ball much today since their ground game was working so well, rushing for 320 yards. Hopefully that will be to their advantage in the playoffs when the weather turns colder and it is harder to pass. The defense was also stellar today getting 4 interceptions and a fumble recovery. The year didn't start too well for the team with questions at quarterback and some key injuries to Farm and Kidder, but Bolt has settled in nicely and Farm and Kidder have been back for the last few games.

High five to RoyalsFan, hazzbeen, Ice Bear, other Bethel faithful, the team and coach Johnson on a victorious end to the regular season and the conference championship. I was watching the Cobber debacle yesterday, so was pleased to see your post and description of the gutsy fake punt call. Definitely a gamble in that situation, but I've always wondered why the fake punt is so rare. It is one thing to have a defense watch for it, and quite another to be prepared for it. Fun element.

Also figured it must have been an all out ground attack, because you were burning well into the third quarter when the other games were at the half. And yes, the Bethel D is tough.

To all Bethel posters, I have enjoyed your commentary, the positive support of not only your team, but the game itself. Good luck the rest of the way out!

I welcome other opinions as to what to do with the bracket in this part of the country. Yes, the name of Bethel against UW-Whitewater is something that people will look twice at, but Bethel is 8-2 and won't have a win against a regionally ranked team.

I understand Bethel doesn't have a win against a regionally ranked team, but they didn't play any regionally ranked teams the second half of the season either. I believe they are a completely different team now than they were the first few games of the season. Unfortunately that doesn't factor into the rankings.

My comment about the committee's bracket making did not spring from the D3 projected bracket with BU up against UW Whitewater - but rather the interview you had down Snelling Avenue a few weeks back...

It's actually kind of fun to be rooting for a dark horse in this year's tourney. I also think the Royals may raise some eyebrows before the dust settles for the season.

I recommend SJU travel to Aurora so I can buy myself a slab of beer.  Plus, poetic post-season vibes.

That's not happening-both will maybe 4 seed-or 3 seed for Aurora.
