My question would be does UST's success as a D1 program help or hurt SJU remaining as a D3 school?

It makes it very tempting for the weak minded. "Derrrrr, the Toms did it... so that means Johnnies can do it more gooder!"

Thankfully, I think we are a more resolute bunch and won't go chasing D1 fool's gold. Plus, SJU simply doesn't have the endowment to burn like UST to make that kind of jump. That reality alone keeps those evil D1 thoughts away.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Division I bylaws also prohibit single gender institutions. SJU could theoretically move to D2, but not D1 unless that rule gets voted out at the NCAA convention one of these years.

The more you know!

Good golly, SJU misses one playoff and the world catches fire.  We could explode everything.  That is true. Or we could just play better, particularly against GAC.

What the heck.  It's the silly season, it appears.  I'm on board with global thermonuclear war.

Sure is boring around here since the Johnnies aren't in the playoffs.  That, alone, is reason for the committee to select them.

You do have a team representing the MIAC in the playoffs you could discuss.

Nah, the only time Bethel interests me is when they're playing SJU.  I'm not a "rah rah MIAC" type of guy.

I will be surprised if Bethel keeps it close.

I am glad bethel made the playoffs-given the coaches last season-but they have no chance, so no reason to discuss.

It's actually kind of fun to be rooting for a dark horse in this year's tourney. I also think the Royals may raise some eyebrows before the dust settles for the season.

I should be prepping some rocket motors for a launch tomorrow, but I need to chime in - and not try to sound lame or cheesy. Can Bethel win down at Whitewater tomorrow? Well, yes - but the ball has to bounce favorably in their direction. They/we don't have the horsepower to go "toe to toe", but rather need to keep the score close, if possible, and then make some key "gutsy" plays to get the lead near the end of the game. For the Royals to have any chance, the defense has to keep the Warhawks under 10 to 14 points - total. Special teams would need a score, and a pick six or fumble recovered for a teeder to keep the game close. As much as I love my Royals, the offense is gonna need some help to score enough points to knock off Goliath.

TSIAH - The school in Arden Hills, MN.

I know a bit of the history between BU and the folks at D3 Photography - this makes me chuckle.

(Go to the bracket challenge for where I am getting this info.)

That's funny, but frankly a little embarrassing and unprofessional for d3photo.

I spent five years trying to simply have a conversation with that school.

I called them every month for two years.

They refused to talk to me, or my partner.

They even went as far as to ban not just d3photo from their campus but at one time banned D3sports as well.

They still refuse to come to the table to discuss things.

They only let their lawyers talk and they will not talk to us because we do not have a lawyer at this time. We cannot afford to hire the lawyers needed to get them to tell us to pound sand.

Five years, tens of thousands of dollars, spent trying to get them to simply talk to us.

We are broken.

They have lost the privilege to be referred to by their name.

Unprofessional? Maybe. I'd rather be called "unprofressional" than commit fraud, steal, lie, and cover up those actions like the school has.

You've been watching Bethel this year and I haven't, but I know UW-W's position is that playing Bethel is always a challenge. Well coached, physical, and play the game the right way. Our guys are approaching it that we have to play well to win (which I suppose any good coach would want in a playoff game).

One team will be playing for their beloved outgoing coach and the other has been working to earn this day all year and are on fire this week to put last year's playoff failure behind them. Should be fun!

Enjoy the day and no injuries on either side!

Of course I've got my daughters bday party at 1:30 today. Suffice to say I wasn't the party planner. In moms defense we have travel basketball all morning so this afternoon was the only option. Gonna have to see how much of the second half I can sneak in when no one is looking.

@Ryan. I believe you left out the part where you sued first, for a crazy amount of money and damages. The SID made a mistake, and they tried to discuss. You can't go scorched earth and then complain when they disengage from the nonsense. Agree it didn't have to get here. But the insanity of your initial lawsuit played a part. There's blame to go around.

I'll assume since you've all but admitted you have zero journalistic objectivity when it comes to Bethel (TSIAH) that you play no role in any d3football.com in-season or post-season polls or honors? If you do, your bias speaks poorly to anything you vote on.
