There are a number of schools with that proverbial boatload, so we will see how things progress. There's another year or two of change left here, I think.

ARC seems like more of a legit 3 team race with Coe, Central and Wart.

Seems like every few years, someone like Dubuque rears its head, too.

A tradition unrivaled...

I have to wonder if Wartburg will drop off a bit now or if they're here to stay.  Historically, the IIAC (I still can't handle ARC) has had a lot of ebb and flow.  Is Wartburg's recent success due to a really talented class, or will they maintain their grip?  Time will tell.

I believe they had a boatload of Covid 5th-year Seniors. The D in particular was filled with them. They've proved through the years they'll be back, but I'd guess they have to do a bit of a reload. ARC seems like more of a legit 3 team race with Coe, Central and Wart. And I doubt they're primed for a near-Stagg run again with all they lose.

Honestly, after their performance this season (especially the post season) it'd be great to see them right back again as they totally earned my respect and admiration. I do agree with you hazz that they will be back but may have a bit of a reloading period with so many veteran players moving on.

Some rumblings out of Collegeville are hinting that Aaron Syverson could indeed use his last year of eligibility and come back for one more year at SJU.

If true, I love it for the Johnnies, but will be glad when these Covid years are over and people go back to doing their 4/5 years max.

I would imagine that the way this year ended might have loomed large in his decision on that?  Probably hard to close the book on playing, if you have an option to return, when their season ended unexpectedly like that, rather than 2-3 rounds into the playoffs.

Yeah, good for Aaron and I always think it's cool when a student athlete returns to school/sports for some unfinished business. I'm not saying I know this is the reason Aaron's coming back. I just agree with GoldandBlueBU's thought that not making the tournament this season probably played a role in his decision. Wishing Aaron and the Johnnies the very best next season...except when they take on the Royals of course.

With the fall seasons all complete and champions crowned, it is a tight race at the top for this year's Durenberger Trophy as the gap from first to fifth is only three points.

I've been wondering if NIL money could impact D3 kids using their fifth year if they're a transfer or used a "gray/redshirt" year. Could a business hire them with the understanding that they will be paid during the season even if they aren't working full time. I gotta believe NIL will or already has played a role in D3. Even the Gophers found $30K to pay Cole Kramer to play one game.

Also wondering if a NIL fund /piggy bank could be available at tailgate events or postgame celebrations? Is that allowed as the rules seem to be pretty loose.

I was wondering more about that too when I heard about the $30K that the gophers seemingly allocated to Cole Kramer for playing in the bowl game.  I was under the impression initially that the NIL arrangements were with individual players, to appear at an event, or use their image in advertising, etc.  Based on the "dinkytown athletes" fund, it appears to be more of a slush fund that the athletic department, or maybe individual teams / coaches can direct money out of?

If a golf course is ever built in Northfield, then the MIAC will be in big trouble.

Also, I reckon the Gusties are a big threat to take the men's trophy being this close to the top after the fall season.

So, GAC gets 2nd place points in football despite being 5-3 in the conference, while SJU gets 3rd place points while being 7-1.  Makes total sense.

I was thinking that as well. The only and most fitting adjective to describe that is stupid.
