When you go for two, you should at least give yourself an option. Make the defense have to make a decision.

Stagg replay on ESPNU right now. 9am Saturday.

While the play call on the 2-point conversion seemed a bit basic/predictable, I attribute much of the result to Cortland's D just sniffing it out and stuffing it.

I guess I also can't blame them for giving the ball to Lehnen on a simple run as he was running all over the Cortland D at the time. I guess I just expected something more complex for such a key play. If it worked though I don't think I would have even thought about the play call.

Johnnies finish 19th, Bethel receiving votes: https://www.d3football.com/top25/2023/final

Will the Johnnies start the 2024 campaign ranked in the top 15?

No.

Where will UMU start the year?

I say top 5. Thoughts?
Top 10.  They lose a lot to graduation.  Unless guys are coming back for a Covid year.

Many congratulations to Cortland. I'm amazed that NCC went full Tommie and tried to win with a two-point play.  Everyone knows you never go full Tommie. Just as Sean Penn.

I see what you did there.

This coming fall is the last year that will be a thing, right?  If you were originally supposed to be a freshman in the fall of 2020, but didn't actually get do do your first year until fall of 2021?

I wouldn't be surprised to see SJU as a top 15...more surprised if UMU is top 5.

If Syverson is done, as I assume he is, I'd say they're outside the top 15.  If he returns, I could see them in the top 15.  I think UMU will be top 10 but probably not top 5.

This year felt like it was a victim of overconfidence.  The team seemed to me as if it played like it would just happen.  A lot of big-time returners meant it stacked up really well.  But, it ends up it wasn't the case.  I reckon two years of hard labor to get back into a top-five ranking.  Lots of graduation this year.  Some new ordinary guys are needed to do extraordinary things.

Also, Bartch had a couple snaps with the offense at SFO last weekend.  He's got a chance to play in the Super Bowl this year if the breaks go his way and the team's.  Amazing.

For me, UMU just has this place in my mind, this pedestal. I think it will take a lot of time, and poor results (which I don't foresee) for this to change.
