Quote from: sjusection105 on May 04, 2024, 08:38:15 AMHow do other MIAC schools handle the tailgating situation at their schools?

There's no demand at other schools.  :o

What going on with season tix?  I usually get a renewal notification in March but haven't heard a thing yet.

Probably still figuring out how much higher they can raise prices without pissing off loyal fans.
In our ransom note I mean invoice for Tailgating spots, there was mention of season ticket renewals coming out this summer......faunch's reply is probably close to spot on....
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Going to a game at SJU is still relatively affordable. However we are 4 seasons removed from our last legit playoff run. Better do something soon to get past the second round...and I don't think raising ticket prices in the answer.

If they are going to raise prices, they could at least add cheese to the burgers in the concession stand.

Having only really paid attention to the MIAC since about 2002, it is hard to imagine a world where Hamline and Augsburg were both good.

Unrelated - but man, the Wolves are on a heater!  It is odd to ever experience much playoff success for a MN professional team, let alone having them sweep Phoenix, and then be up 2-0 over the defending champs in dominant fashion, while playing on the road!  It didn't feel real when the wolves were up 30 in the third quarter...I kept waiting for Ant or Kat or Naz reid's ACL's to spontaneously combust simultaneously.

Cheese would be .50 cents for American and 1.00 for cheddar.  ;D

With all this discussion of the enrollment cliff and schools closing (see Birmingham-Southern), it makes me wonder how Hamline is still open?

From an outsider's perspective, it doesn't seem like anything is truly thriving at the corner of Hewitt and Snelling.

I've spent the entire regular season waiting of the MN sports fan experience of false hope to kick in. Oh crap, we got Phoenix in Rd 1, here we go .... FF to a 6-0 run to start the playoffs and suddenly I'm feeling like we are the favs to win the whole dang thing. Either peak Minny heartbreak is about to ensue, or we (and my kids) are experiencing a legit championship run.

And ANT is 22 and under a max extension that starts next year. The universe feels off kilter right now.

St. Mary's isn't a women's school. My dad graduated from there in the 1960s.
The women's school in Winona was St. Teresa's, since closed.

The burgers at SJU could have used cheese for the last 30 years...but dont discount the appeal of the onion bun  8-)

Hamline has been on the struggle bus for a long time now, which is interesting given the fact that their former President was on the NCAA Board.  Maybe they should advocate the roster limits for all sports again...trickle down economics for SAs.

Game attendance and atmosphere really only exists at SJU, Bethel and GAC.  On field performance and playoff success cure all that ails a program and their fans.

Schools, both D3 and others, are facing major problems with enrollment due to demographics, FAFSA failures and other issues.  SCSU announced another significant cut to programs yesterday to address an $18MM budget miss...YIKES!  Funny the announcement said they play to clean offices less frequently and reduce the treatment for insects and spiders.........when those are your options to close a huge budget deficit, closing cant be all that far off.

Oh, the onion bun is money, but I have honestly considered bringing my own cheese on more than one occasion!  Jr. won't eat a burger without cheese, and I can't say that I blame him.  ;)

Hey they've got the Old Paint Bucket and made it to the MIAC title game in hoops. That's a pretty good year to be a Piper.

Times change & perspectives change over the years. The son of a friend went into the Marines 6 years ago, while there he was trained as a diesel mechanic. He decided being a mechanic wasn't for him so he took the money he saved while enlisted and went to trade schools for HVAC and finished last month he had 3 job offers and no debt. The trades are screaming for employees. Some pay better than others but all are a solid place for an undecided 20-something to start.

Bring a couple ziploc baggies from home. You can probably score a slice of cheese and some ice from someone in the tailgate lot. Fill one bag w/ ice cubes and the other w/ cheese.
On those hot sunny days in September take the cheese bag out of the ice bag and lay the cheese bag on your seat. Head up to the concession stand to buy your cheese-less burger....by the time you return your cheese should be good and melted!!!

I got an email at 2:10Pm that season ticket renewals begin on Monday. No idea yet if the price increased as the page is not live. I'm expecting an increase. I just paid car insurance and with no claims in forever of course there was an increase. I get it, there has been a rash of claims for carjacking, hail etc... so everyone's premiums go up that just how the system works....
