MIAC doesn't deserve to have a team in the top 10...convince me otherwise.

All due respect to Lindy's, but I give their poll about as much weight as the AFCA poll.

D3football.com poll is my gold standard.

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

I had to turn mine on early this year.  I think it was mid-April when we got a small heat wave and the house wasn't cooling below the low 80s at night.  It was hard to sleep.  A few weeks ago we had a major storm hit DFW that knocked out my power for about 4 days. Luckily it stayed fairly cool during that time.  I think the peak winds hit 95mph and we got about 10" of rain in a week.  That was not fun.  Still very humid even for Dallas right now, and the AC units are not happy.  I just need them to get through this summer.

Four in a row and seven of the last nine for Hawthorn.  They controlled the game all day against Richmond, a dangerous opponent as it was Richmond legend Dusty Martin's 300th match, a rare milestone.  But the young Hawks took it to the Tigers and now take their bye week with a 7-7 record after starting the year 0-5.  Finals remain a possibility.

Quote from: OzJohnnie on June 08, 2024, 05:41:35 PMI remembered to do a "I wonder what Ben Bartch is doing" search and... he's competing for starting centre on the 49ers. He's been taking the starting snaps at camp.  Wow. That would be something if he makes that assignment.

In a game last year, he did play some center. IMO, he did well. All snaps in shotgun formation were spot on. Didn't play that much attention to blocking, but that would take some experience to get right. If he gets the opening day assignment, and does well, it could lead to permanent assignment. In reading Niners news, they have issues at O Line, and are looking to solidify.

Alright, boys, we were out of town for a baseball tournament this weekend, but I looked at the weather and saw Sunday's soupy forecast and made the call to turn on my AC.  So 6/14 is my date.

A tradition unrivaled...

No longer master of my domain...played golf yesterday with daughter #1 and it was steamy...came home and cranked the AC.

Carleton alum Matthew Wilkinson (2021) is running in the steeplechase at the Olympic trials this weekend, with the prelims scheduled for tonight.  He has the 5th fastest time by an American this year and has a legitimate shot at making the team.

He was a 9-time MIAC and 2-time national champion at Carleton and probably would have had a couple more of each if not for COVID cancellations.

Awesome to hear! USATF Olympic trails are one of the most exciting things to watch in sports IMO.

In other news. Was at the Twins game for work and we ran into an Augsburg wrestler carrying around their Walnut and Bronze. It was actually perfect timing, the partner I had taken to the game is a huge greco guy (who still competes at 52, wrestled at ASU back in the day) and we'd been talking about wrestling all night. Grabbed a pic for the boards.

He said they had both this and last years trophy making the rounds at Target Field. Must have been some sort of Augsburg Wrestling night thing. (Duff, hopefully you didn't throw up too much in the lab just now  ;) )

As I'm sure some of you have seen St. Olaf AD Ryan Bowles passed away this week.

A tremendous loss for the St Olaf community and the MIAC  :'(
R.I.P.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Wilkinson took 2nd in the Steeplechase.  He doesn't have the Olympic standard, but may still get in on his world ranking, fantastic showing either way.

NCC's Luke Winder (brother of a former colleague) was tied for first in the Pole Vault for a bit. Finished in a tie for 6th.
