If any of you are following the St. Thomas new arena situation, from the Pioneer Press today:

MN Court of Appeals demands new environmental review of St. Thomas arena

This is a "subscriber only" article so I'm not going to bother linking to it.  This is a bit of setback for the Tommies.  Not sure at this point how significant.  Happy to see this as the City of St. Paul rubberstamped this, just like they do for everything with St. Thomas.  Even my former council member, who is a Johnnie, went along.[/color]

ROR is this a multi use arena or hockey only?

Multi use.  5500 for hoops, 500 for puck.  It reduces parking on the campus.  And most will go in and out one single lane road as most of the parking will be in the Anderson ramp.  And they just added a big science building that also reduced on campus housing.

I assume Boston College has parking problems as well.  Rev said they were trying to emulate BC.

Does anyone know what it means to add someone to your "buddy list?"  I noticed Faunch added me and I just added 105 to see what it would do for me.

Maybe it's like Facebook where your number of "friends" is the measure of your success in life.

BU Rocket Club update - the marketing department has us on WCCO's morning show live tomorrow morning, (July 10, 2024) and on KSTP's morning show on Friday (July 12, 2024). I'll post URLs to the recordings as they become available.

Update: We'll be on WCCO on Thursday, not Wednesday.

It is a shame that opponents need to resort to this argument to fight over-building.  "Destroying the neighbourhood" should be more than enough.

I have no idea what use it has. Many years ago, I spent the time to add every Johnnie to my buddy list, thinking it could be useful for something, but I never figured out what that use would be. Your post did prompt me to check if the list came over with the upgrade (it did) and think, "I haven't seen that guy around in a long time."  So that's something.

These signs are on many of the neighbors properties around campus.
Here's the link to their website: https://www.advocates4rd.org/

Once (if) the arena is built Cretin Ave is going to be a mess two or three times per week from about late October through early March. Glad I live 2.5 miles south

Back 2-3 years ago when U$T first proposed building a hockey arena on the side of the Ford plant rail yard they said it would be hockey only. I remember listening to the community meeting and thinking "there's no way in hell I believe that!"
Many in my neighborhood are a little pissed that they will be building a baseball/softball complex where the rail yard used to be. It won't generate a ton of extra traffic but it's a bit ironic that a D1 facility will be built on the site that housed a Babe Ruth field for more than 50 years.

Another question is where will U$T play football when they leave the Pioneer for the Missouri Valley or the ACC (I mean their going to be the BC of the midwest).

US Bank Stadium, of course. It's the only place that could be a suitable vessel for their meteoric rise through the college football ranks.

Congratulation.  Nice job by Ben.  Art, you did pretty good too.  Very impressive.  10,000- 30,000 feet, where the heck are you going to test that?

I just noticed the line below your post count.  You are a certified geek.   ;)
