Quote from: BDB on August 16, 2024, 06:58:33 AMWell, I like it. I'm a big fan of unique team names, especially one offs.

I don't mind the Cobber name or even the corn cob logo, I just think it's too much for the helmet.

I just don't like that the cob on the helmet isn't symmetrical. It's a little to chaotic when compared to the rest of the look of the helmet which is relatively simple and classic.

May SJU should do big rat w/ a tail?

I agree, there is probably a more aesthetically pleasing way to do it.

Yep - love the unique name - but it's too busy.  It looks like when my 2.5 year old is using stickers, and just throws them into any open space.

Quote from: Retired Old Rat on August 06, 2024, 09:18:42 PMWith 13 QBs on last year's roster, only one of which was listed as a senior, it would not be surprising at all to see some guys looking for a better opportunity.  Could it be someone who was going to be a superstar at D1* UST?

*Non scholarship, or as I like to refer to it. Faux D1.

From my count the Jays have 9 QB's on the roster and do not have one with the initials KK. Did he end up at another MIAC school and will he exact revenge on the Johnnies?

I feel for Zander Dittbenner...I'm sure he was hopeful he would get his shot this season.

The Hawks smashed Richmond.  A double monkeystomp equivalent and yet it still felt like the Hawks didn't play well.  One more week to go, this time against North Melbourne.  If we win, then a week off and finals.

I feel for Dittbenner, too.  :-\

I have a sense that Dittbenner could be a bit of a RPO style QB.

Quote from: art76 on August 15, 2024, 08:06:19 AMMy season tickets came in yesterday's mail, along with the annual pre-season report on positions. No mention of a St. John's player transferring to BU at the QB position. However, there were two transfers in to vie for that spot, Jadon Hanzel from the University of Mary and Trevor Fleege from UW Eau Claire. Alex Call had off season surgery and is out for the season. Also vying for the starting position are Sophomores Ryan Bengston and Albert Rundell, as well as Freshman Cole Gerrell. First non-conference game is Saturday night, September 14th down the road at Northwestern. MIAC ball is just around the corner...

My intel has the SJU QB transfer as Cooper Drews, Soph out of Princeton. Looks like he was also on the basketball team. He's tall, coming in at 6'5", what that says about his ability to spin the football I have no idea.

I think the transfer happened after they'd written up the pre-season/recruiting recap they mailed out to all the alumni Art.

If you're wondering how to purchase SJU video stream...I logged into Hudl and clicked on the SJU / Carthage game link. It brings up a link for "Purchase Options." Clicking on that link opens up the option to pay per game or an "Access Pass" for the season. The access pass averages out to $12.88 per game ($75 + $2.55 processing fee).
The access pass claims to allow "Watch on Demand." I'm wondering if this actually will allow one to watch on demand...for some reason I don't believe that option has worked in the past. I've got a wedding to attend on October 5th at 2pm and the social hour doesn't begin until 5pm. I'd like to be able to watch the game after the service.

I'm trying to picture what used to be there.  Looks to be just down from The Bullpen and Green Acres, if my party house geography is still OK.  ;)

I read that they also bought or leased a lot from the nuns across Minnesota St. for parking. Also in previous reports, they are also going to have one of those "self-serve" beer pouring walls?  I'm not clear on the concept, but there are others around apparently. Guess here is where I read it:
