I think Reusse's comment on X told the story.  If you want to be a contender in baseball, it's a year-round commitment.  The baseball program needs a full-time head coach, focused on baseball.

I don't pay attention to baseball much, but the story said they'd made something like 14 straight MIAC playoffs. Seems they're doing OK, no?

At age 70 it seems a little late for Jerry to be doing that transition now. I suppose he could go the Gagliardi path and coach into his mid-80s, but that's a rare occurrence.

Does this make Brandon Novak the defensive coordinator?

And the Hawks are playing in September for the first time since 2018.  They demolished North Melbourne today, 170 - 46, and enter the finals with both the #1 defence and #1 offense in the last third of the season.  This after sitting 17th on the ladder after round seven.  We'll see how the games play out over the rest of the weekend to see who our first finals victim is in two weeks.

The Hawks media team has lifted their game and finally lifted to the level of the Johnnie media department.  A good hype video for finals.

I saw that BU does indeed have a SJU transfer quarterback - Cooper Drews.  6'5, 215, out of Princeton.  Looks like he was on the basketball team at SJU as well.  Wonder if he'll do that at BU as well, like Joey Kidder.

If that's your standard, then yes, it's OK. But simply making the MIAC playoffs is not a super high bar.

Making the MIAC playoffs is being able to average a slightly better than .500 record.

Quote from: MadRedFan on August 20, 2024, 06:13:47 PMAlso in previous reports, they are also going to have one of those "self-serve" beer pouring walls?  I'm not clear on the concept, but there are others around apparently.

Basically, you get a card that tracks your "usage".  Walk up to the wall, swipe your card, and pour whatever beer you'd like.  Every few beers, you have to have an "ambassador" reset your account so they can ensure that you're not going overboard.  ;)

FFS, they'll soon have us drinking beer like we're in a pod from The Matrix.  I know I've made my career "digitally transforming" across the Asia Pacific (and now AI!! You better buy some.  Quick!), but this is a step too far.  Pubs are analogue.  I refuse to budge.
What is the standard tip rate at these self-serve pubs?

Exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if SJU would like to do better than that.

If that performance were applied to the football team, this board (and beyond) would be calling for the head coach to be fired. (See D3boards.com MIAC Pages from 2010-2012)

I the 2024 SJU football team misses the playoffs this year there will be outrage.

Again, don't pay attention to baseball. So I looked at their records the past five years. Never finished in first, but never finished lower than third. MIAC record is roughly .650.i think they had three second place finishes.

They're well above .500 in the MIAC recently.

I think with the new facilities expectations rose.
