Robert Zimmerman

Would have been perfect if they would have faked the field goal and thrown a behind the back pass to pick up a first down to keep the drive moving.

Nice W by Bethel yesterday! Great start for the Royals! I'm getting very excited about the season! Go Royals.

St John's moved up to #5 in today's newly released Top 25 poll & Bethel remains at #24. We'll see if the bye week benefited us on Saturday when the Johnnies travel to Arden Hills to take on the Royals! Hoping they look sharp & remain hungry!

I'm not saying this as an attack on any voters but just an observation and maybe a critique. From what I read UWW was manhandled by MHB, yet they are still ranked ahead of them. Obviously it's early but to be soundly defeated by a team and still ranked ahead of them just never sits right with me.

42-0 at the half. They are D1 FCS Missouri Valley Conference. And not good. 0-3 this year. 3-7 last year.

Looks like moving to the MVC is a pipe dream at this point.

Lindenwood is not MVFC. FCS Ohio Valley Conference, scholarships. Most would agree OVC is not at MVFC level.

Thanks for the correction. Really not ready for prime time.

The sad this is that UST will be strong in the Pioneer League but IMO would not be able to hang with the Top 4 teams in D3.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Maybe not the top 5?

Quote from: DuffMan on September 18, 2024, 02:32:01 PMThere's a good article on SJU's Will Blakey (or Blakely, if you prefer  ;)) on the front page, for those of you that don't frequent it.

Ernie England on the '76 team had four years in the Air Force

Bethel has a lot to clean up this week before SJU. Special teams didn't look sharp. Secondary is 3/4 awesome and 1/4 vulnerable. And the Oline/commitment to the running game wasn't what it needs to be. There are a lot of positive things Coach Mac has brought in. But you can also tell there are things they are still ironing out in terms of new identity. That takes time, and against a better opponent in UWEC it revealed where the work needs to happen.

It's easy to take for granted the continuity of special teams, run game/offensive identity you had with Coach J. I think new coaches and their fresh ideas will be a plus in the long term. But right now we are still finding our rhythm in too many little areas.

So, there is a house in my neighborhood that has had a Bethel flag up on Saturdays for the past couple of years--guessing they have a grandson on the team.  There may need to be a covert op this Friday evening.  :o

ESPN's Bill Connelly ranks every college team using his formula.  He has UST just behind Platteville, and just ahead of Hope.  That would make UST the equivalent of the 8th ranked D3 team, using his formulas.

Faunch'll love that.

UST is ranked 6th amongst PFL teams.

UST has had a lot of assistant coaching turnover. The entire staff outside of DC is new since 2023. This is the first time I can remember Caruso having to navigate a rebuild that he didn't inherit.

You sound a bit like a Baptist Lou Holtz there, Hazz!  ;)

Did not see the whole game but there's tons of talent on that roster and a solid culture.

Plus I'm wary of former SJU QBs named Cooper ... both of them. Your new guy looks like he knows how to get the ball to Kidder and is more mobile than the Wartburg kid.
