Wonder how the tone between semi and final will affect teams-get guys healthy but timing may be off

I don't like the 15 days off. Wonder how coaches and players feel about it. I guess it does allow for some guys to heal up a bit.

Last glance back at the final standings this year for the MIAC.

1. St. John's
2. Bethel
3. Concordia
4. St. Olaf
5. Carleton
6. Gustavus
7. Augsburg
8. St. Scholastica
9. Hamline
10. Macalester

So next year will be all new. FWIW, If it were up to me, I would make it so the first week was non-conference for every team, then 9 weeks of conference play, and then give all 10 teams the last week off. What they'll probably do is give every team two empty dates to fill, one with a non-conference game making the second a bye week. A few years back I also proposed reordering the playing order so that number 1 played number 10 in the first game of the next season, then number 9, then 8, and so on until number 1 and 2 met in the last game of the season. Because there are an even number of teams, simply swap who is home and away the next season, regardless of the standing, as every team still has to play every other team.

As we'll likely be playing UWL (Sorry, AO, but it will take a minor miracle), I'm glad we get to play them off a bye week.

I don't know about that season schedule idea of yours, Art. It seems pretty straightforward and easy to understand. What's the catch?

If you do that you're going to have a MIAC champ who has two weeks in a row off, most years, going into the playoffs. That would probably not be wise.

Last weekend was really physical. I think the week off, with UWL up next, is a really good thing for SJU.

Boy, same. We might drop them 10 at a time, or we might drop the first-round 16 first. All 40 is a HUGE lift.

Pat-I kind of like the idea of breaking up the 40 over the two weeks. 40 is a lot of team profiles to crank out in a week! It is also a lot for readers to digest. Whatever you decide, just know that we love to read the profiles of each team!

I'm not in favor of the last week off.
Another idea would be would be to have the season for season schedule to go:
1 v 10
1 v 5
1 v 9
1 v 4
1 v 8
1 v 3
1 v 7
1 v 2
1 v 6
1 v 2

That might spread out some of the more competitive games...or maybe i don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

The guys at D3 Datacast did a really interesting analysis of what happens when you change the NPI weighting for strength of schedule and win percentage.
