Not from what I saw-but who knows-they are good but not quite bethel good

OzJohnnie

Well, it looks like I'll be doing the post season old school with VOJ on the radio.  The DIII games are not in the online ESPN offer down here and if I VPN to the States it doesn't work right.  I was trying everything this morning to get access to the BU game but nothing worked.  C'est la vie.

If we make it to the championship game then that's carried on ESPN2.  Maybe the semi's as well?

Geez UW-LAX has had a lot of close games this season. Six games decided by 7 or fewer points. One of those losses was by 7 to the #2 ranked team in D2. Gonna be a challenge for the Johnnies.

Both LAX and Platteville QB's can really spin the ball. The passing game will be a challenge for any team to stop.

I think that's a major bonus for UWL. They've been in a bunch of close games against good competition and have basically been in playoff mode for the last 6 weeks.

Wow.  I thought that was going to be the most Vikings game ever since the last most Vikings game ever.  But it was not.  It appears the Vikes are saving that performance for the post-season.

@BDB, Stout had a very good 6-5 season.  This close to a fantastic year.

A season filled with down to the wire games. Good times.

It was a very "Viking" game.

Already listened to the podcast this morning - BU gets some nice coverage. A second podcast will be dropped on Thursday morning for the upcoming weekend's games, as well as more content/features on the front page this week. Thanx Pat and Greg!

I have to say, the NCAA did us all a favor by adding the additional 8 teams to the tourney. Still had some under-qualified teams in the first round, but overall the brackets appear to be better balanced. Some nuance-ing/tweaking will need to be done in future years, but with a single week in the books, this year is off to a pretty good start.

I have not yet paid for the ESPN+ subscription, so I saw none of the BU-Coe game, simply checked in on the on-line box score while at work, as I was able to. Don't have a Saturday off until the 21st, so it didn't seem like a wise expenditure. From what I can gather afterwards, the Royals did ok, but in my mind under-performed/missed expectations. I'll take the win, but one has to wonder if losing a second time to the Johnnies has "psyched out" the team morale. Perhaps this week's win will be an encouragement to the team as a whole. As a fan, it's hard to get a read on things like that. Whatever the case, they live to fight another day.

Of the teams that "played into" the field of 32, I think BU's chances are pretty good for getting to the next level, probably the best of all the teams that won this past weekend. Other teams with chances are John Carroll against Mount Union and Endicott at Cortland. Not for a minute do I think the Johnnies got a gimmee with La Crosse, so that game can also be included as one to watch for the "play in" teams. It'll be a fun weekend to see who moves on, that's for sure.

I think Bethel can turn the ball over 3+ times vs. Lake Forest and still win by a comfortable Monkey StompTM.

I'm hoping for a good performance from the Johnnies, but LaX is tough, and the the weather is looking hand-numbing.  SJU had better be able to have some semblance of a ground game.

Didn't feel that way at all on Saturday, team was ready to play. Coe has a very good D and was a very good team. We didn't get points right before the half when we ran out of time on the 3, which kept things close. Good playoff atmosphere, both teams had playmakers, we were just a little too much for them in the end.

If anyone is interested, there are some good you tube channels that cover d3. Take a look at D1 Rejects, and d3zone.

I was fortunate that one of my utilities offered a free 6 months of Disney/ESPN+ about 3 weeks ago. I snapped it up. I will not pay for it after the free offer expires.

Gary was the linebackers coach the last time the Johnnies played LaCrosse in the playoffs. The weather and field conditions in LaCross were terrible, but the Johnnies managed to hold a 30-8 lead in the 3rd quarter. LaCrosse then scored 29 unanswered points to win 37-30. Ouch!
