Quote from: GoldandBlueBU on December 10, 2024, 04:16:29 PMNice Jung article from Ruesse....  Ruesse - Jung - Strib

Didn't know much about Jung's story so really enjoyed that. What a stud.

Story mentions MN State Mankato. For those who haven't followed their postseason adventures, the Mavs are now in the national semis. THREE straight weeks they've come back from two scores down in the second half. I'm guessing that's never been done before in D2, D3 or FCS playoff history. First one against Augustana they scored twice in last two minutes and recovered an onside kick. And last week against Bemidji were down 23-14. Cut it to 23-21 in fourth and Bemidji had it inside the 5, looking to seal it. Fumbled, Mavs scooped it up and took it deep, scored few plays later. Then held off three Bemidji passes from the 4 yard line in the final 25 seconds to hold on 27-23. They definitely aren't as good as some of the great Mavs teams of the past decade but on a magical run.
With the youngest Jung going to Duluth that means both of my football coaching cousins and my main rival apparently have the Jung house on speed dial.

Photo by Todd Allred, colleague of mine at USA Today who we hired to come shoot for us that weekend. He has since passed away and is gone long, long too soon.
Great shot.

Looks like then-SID Michael Hemmesch was right on the spot for that one.

Congrats to Aaron Syverson and Matt Jung, D3football.com's Region 6 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.

Texas Ole

Quote from: OzJohnnie on December 09, 2024, 11:20:57 PMHeh.  Dallas had a very Vikings finish. I enjoy watching the Cowboys lose games on bad luck plays.  Ever since Roger Staubach threw that Hail Mary to beat the Vikes I have got a thrill from a tragic Cowboys loss.

Don't hate on Captain America!  Next time tell your Fans to not run into each other. While flying up to MN last week I got to meet my favorite NFL player of all time Tony Dorsett. Super nice guy!  Always fun to listen to old timer stories. We joked about his run of 99 yards when the Cowboys only had 10 on the field.

I think most of DFW is enjoying Cowboys losses more than anyone. The story is becoming what need do they fill first. Unfortunately confidence is very low in our GM, and his replacement probably won't be any better.

Found this analysis and breakdown of the Bethel v Sus game from Logan Hansen interesting.

This will be by far the most balanced offense we've faced all year. Coe/Wartburg were very good running teams, SJU/Syverson could throw it all over, but this is a unique combo. It'll be really interesting to see if we can take away the run to make them one dimensional and let our pass rush loose. We seem to be relatively healthy, and having Devon Williams playing to form was huge last week. Loved the way we stuck with the run, even though we weren't getting huge gains, need more of that this week. Also feel like Kidder is due for a breakout game, but we'll see. Sus will definitely have plenty to say about all of this!

That is interesting.  If they want to throw everything at Kidder, and Niewald can have a 10+ catch day - that is also acceptable for me.  You and your brother making the trip?  ;)

It's my wife's bday on Friday. But don't think he didn't have the flights looked up and a plan in place to tempt me. I decided to roll the dice on a win and potential chicago road trip next week. Felt like the wiser play than risking the dog house for all of 2025 by bailing on her bday and leaving her with a house full of kids and their weekend tournaments.

That is sound logic.  Better to play that card for a semifinal game, and not on your wife's birthday.  Career limiting move if you cash the trip to PA ticket.

Weather looks great for a game in the middle of Pennsylvania in the middle of December - 34F, mostly sunny, with winds under 2 mph from the East. I googled the stadium and it sits askew from NSEW so the winds will be slightly crossing with or against. (Rocket guys pay close attention to the wind.)

I am like a kid at Christmas time not being able to wait for the game to start. While I am off of work this Saturday, it's because the day was filled with activities before the game was scheduled. But I will be watching the live updates on my phone. Go Bethel!

I think the reason we don't have a bunch of unidentified drones flying around here like in other areas of the US is because they know that the Bethel Rocket Team would blast them out of the sky.  ;D

Go Royals, get the W.  8-)

I'm really excited as well art! What a great matchup. I love the fact that Bethel has had two tough losses to SJU and has not allowed that to get them off track and now; they have the opportunity to beat the team that beat SJU and go to the final four. I do believe the Baptist Royals can defeat the Usual Sus but it is certainly going to take a huge effort...huge. Bethel's D will have to play their best game of the season to slow down this Kayser Soze led O. I'm leaning towards a Usual Sus W but certainly hoping against it. Either ****ing way I can't wait to watch it.

Flying to MN next Friday. Hoping for a road trip to Evanston from Arden Hills next Saturday morning...6 hr trip in good weather. Go Royals.

Did a quick google search and found out we can listen in to WQSU to hear the game if you don't have ESPN to see it live. Here's the link: https://wordpress.susqu.edu/wqsu/listen-live/
