Tuned in this station. They went from country music to Bing Crosby singing Christmas songs.

Therefore highly Sus in Susland.

Just a few random thoughts after nearly a week has passed. The officiating has gotten worse as the athletes have gotten better. Some think the games with Lacrosse and Susquehanna were poorly done and they were, but the game the
Johnnies had in Moorehead was much worse for both teams.
Not sure instant replay can come to the D3 level, but it would be nice to have in some cases.
The new playoff system in its first year is crap and it's not the systems fault. The travel restrictions and all
the other variables make it very difficult. Just using the power index for today, in the West you have the 16 playing the 28, and the 5 against the 10. In the East you have the 35 versus the 11 and the 6 against the 15.
If you use the d3 final poll the West has 6 versus 21 and the 1 against 23. The East would have 30 against 19 and 26 versus 5. It's not a fair comparison but the FCS playoff quarterfinals continue this weekend and the top 8 seeds are all still playing in a 24-team field.
A further dive....the first round games using the NPI starting in the East.....34 vs 35, 27 vs 41, 24 vs 29 and 36 vs 62. To the West 18 vs 81, 18 vs 30, 21 vs 65 and 25 vs 54. I certainly do not have an answer as to a fix. As long as conference champions are an automatic bid I don't think there is a fix.

Same here, but looks like they have fixed the issue now.

They didn't call a number so let's assume it's on the right edge. The guy does seem to get tugged a bit, perhaps by both guys? But not a call I think should have been made. Not just because of time of the game (I definitely believe in calling something in the final second that you'd call in the first minute and not just letting things go) but seems the flailing drew more attention to it than anything. But at the same time if it was that, I can see some argument for throwing it. Still brutal.

Asked my uncle, who's a football official. I pointed out the jersey tug. His take, take it as you will:

"I saw that in the video. To me that's not enough for a flag because it didn't really impede the D end."

Impartial observer here...

Any time a shoulder pad is able to be seen due to a jersey being pulled a holding call typically follows.

I also do not think it impacted the play but yeah that's normally a flag.

Yeah, that was my take. That's why I assumed they called it before that on the tackle.

I mean, the RB uniform tug looks bad when zoomed in and screenshot. But you could barely see it in real time because it was so quick.

Did you show him the false start? I'm still trying to figure that one out. Seemed clear the defense came across the line and then the lineman moved.

Well, to be fair, Bethel has benefitted by worse calls than this to end a game at home. It all probably evens out in the end.

SpartanHouse4

That is as obvious an hold as it gets. Watched it live and thought the ref didn't have the stones to call it and Bethel won. Kudos to the ref that made the call.

No kudos given to the white hat who initially called the game over until Bethel's coach corrected him.
