On another note...SJU released their 2025 schedule. The SOS takes a hit with week two non-conference game hosting UMN-Morris. Might be good to not have top ranked opponent as the Johnnies will be breaking in a new QB. The Johnnies actually are all time .500 vs the Cougars (2-2-1).

Calling my shot, Johnnies will be 3-2-1 all time. 😉

Morris lost 28-7 to Carleton last season.
I'm opening the line at a Monkey+ stomp.

The tie was in the national championship season of 1976
The loss was in 1977, when we should have won another national championship.  Maybe that was an omen.  We $hit the bed against Wabash.

Though I am not thrilled at the caliber of this non-con matchup, I think the first year of the NPI showed us that, with the current "dial settings", wins carry the bulk of the weight, so it's not a bad move, especially considering that SJU needs to fill Syverson's monster shoes.

A tradition unrivaled...

UM-Morris, Auggie Tech, Mac, Hot Carls, and St. Scholastica at home?  What an awful home schedule.  I'll set the over/under for regular season points given up at Clemens at 7.5.

They only count the 5 best wins in the NPI, so it's more of a lost opportunity to help the rating than something that actually hurts.

And you're avoiding the true pain, which is a loss to a really good team. With current dial settings it's better to beat a meh team (and get no NPI credit) than to lose to a very good team and have it ding your win percentage. Put another way, the risk of losing to a good team outweighs the benefit of beating that same good team.

According to the St. John's football archives, the football team's first loss against Morris was in 1975, by an 8 - 6 score. So, in the three years from 1975-1977, SJU was 0-2-1 against the Cougars.

Forgot about 1975.  It was a LONG time ago.   :P

Remember that in the 70's UMM was a completely different institution, turning out a lot of Ag and PE majors.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Correct weight on both points.

I've been paying for the home game live stream the last couple of seasons...doubtful I'll be coughing up $75 for that schedule. Not really much interest in driving up to Collegeville to watch any of those games.
Total points for the home schedule 150+ to maybe 10???

We were in Florence, Italy a couple weeks ago visiting our daughter that is studying abroad and I stumbled upon this business. Wondering if John had family in Florence?
